Amid tensions with Canada, Dharmendra Pradhan emphasises India-Australia education cooperation
Dharmendra Pradhan just wrapped up an Australia tour which saw him discuss collaboration across the entire education sector, from possible twinning of schools to setting up Australian varsity campuses in India and joint efforts at addressing skilling gaps. Justin Trudeau ruined relations between India, Canada for votes: Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh
Amarinder Singh lashed out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday for «ruining» the India-Canada ties, saying he is only interested in getting Sikh votes in elections. Singh's remarks came amid frosty relations between India and Canada. India has recalled its high commissioner and five other diplomats from Canada after they were named as «persons of interest» in a Canadian investigation into the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist who was a Canadian citizen, in British Columbia. «Trudeau has ruined the relationship (between India and Canada). Trudeau is interested in only one thing and that is getting the Sikh votes for his own election,» Singh said while replying to a reporter's question on the diplomatic row between India and Canada.

Canada's government has unveiled a new immigration plan for 2025–2027 aimed at balancing population growth with economic and social stability. Immigration Minister Marc Miller emphasized that while immigration is crucial for economic strength, the country must address pressures on housing, infrastructure, and social services. Below are the detailed changes and their implications. “Today’s announcement is the next step in our plan to address the evolving immigration needs of our country. While it’s clear our economy needs newcomers, we see the pressures facing our country, and we must adapt our policies accordingly," Miller said. «These changes will make immigration work for our country so that everyone has access to the quality jobs, homes and supports they need to thrive. We have listened to Canadians, and we will continue to protect the integrity of our system and grow our population responsibly,” he added.
