Sikh group has called on its members to protest outside the Indian diplomatic missions of main Canadian cities on Monday, a week after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau raised the prospect of New Delhi’s involvement in the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia.Trudeau said last week Canada was pursuing “credible allegations” that Indian government agents may be linked to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot dead outside a Sikh temple on June 18 in Surrey, a Vancouver suburb with a high Sikh population.India swiftly denied any role in the killing and described the allegations as “absurd.” The accusations have sparked tensions between the two countries, with each nation expelling diplomats, and New Delhi suspending visas for Canadians.Jatinder Singh Grewal, a director for Sikh for Justice in Canada, told Reuters on Sunday that his organization will lead the demonstrations outside the Indian embassies and consulates in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver to increase public awareness about Nijjar’s killing.“We are asking Canada to expel the India ambassador,” Grewal said. Representatives for India’s diplomatic missions in Ottawa and Toronto were not immediately available for comment.The Toronto Police Department said it was aware of the planned demonstrations on Monday but declined to disclose details of the security preparations or potential response to any violent situations that may arise during the protest.Nijjar, who worked as a plumber, left the north Indian state of Punjab a quarter-century ago and became a Canadian citizen.

Due to an out-of-control wildfire that has crossed the border from the US stae of Washington, authorities have issued an evacuation order for the Canadian town of Osoyoos and its surrounding district. According to the British Columbia Wildfire Service, the wildfire, called Eagle Bluff, is approximately 4 kilometres (2.49 miles) from Osoyoos.

This is important because the British government has said that stepping in to host the commonwealth games is ‘slightly ahead of time’. Which Commonwealth nation has come forward? New Zealand and another Australian state have said that they are not ready to host the multisports event. The Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago are hosting the Commonwealth Youth Games from August 4 to August 11. More than one thousand athletes between the age of 14 and 18 are expected to participate in the youth games. As they have the infrastructure ready and have invested a lot, they may be ready to host the event, but the Caribbean islands are yet to make an offer. London Mayor Sadiq Khan has shown interest in hosting the match considering the fact that GBP 500 is less than what it may cost in other countries to host such a massive event. He has said that London ‘stands ready’ to host the games, but he added that it is up to the government to submit the bid. But the government wants Australia to take the responsibility.Indian Olympic General Secretary Rajiv Mehta has said that India is interested in holding the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The Malaysian state of Selangor has also shown interest in hosting the games. The Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur hosted the event in 1998. Sri Lanka was preparing in November 2020 to offer to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Hambantota. Similarly, the Canadian city of Victoria too has said that it can host the games. Canada hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1994.

Times of India has stated.   The Gujarat government sources told TOI that the city have been preparing to bid for 2030 Commonwealth Games and have been setting itself up for the infrastructure. The state had earlier set its target to complete the work by 2028, however, sources added that work will be completed before the 2026 games.
