women's reservation bill may be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, the Congress said it welcomes the reported move as the party has been raising the demand for long. «We welcome the reported decision of the Union Cabinet and await the details of the Bill,» Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on X. «This could have very well been discussed in the all-party meeting before the Special Session, and consensus could have been built instead of operating under a veil of secrecy,» the Congress leader said. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said if the government introduces the Women's Reservation Bill on Tuesday, it will be a «victory for the Congress and its allies in the UPA government».

Eight per cent increase in white-collar hiring demand in April-June: Indeed
Indeed. Production/manufacturing, sales and marketing roles were the other preferred options, said employment specialist firm Indeed in its recently released hiring tracker, which has insights on hiring trends. The data showed that 61% of the surveyed employers engaged in hiring between April and June quarter, which resulted in an 8% increase in white-collar hiring. The survey included data from 1,109 employers and 2,517 jobseekers or employees. The data covered many cities, sectors and big and small organisations. Irrespective of the sector, there was an increase in demand for skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and communication, along with technical skills, in the changing workplace. Given the spate of layoffs recently, Indeed’s data showed that 62% of those surveyed either were laid off or witnessed it among their peers, leading to more job competition and financial insecurity.

Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad concluded on Sunday, with party leaders expressing optimism about receiving a «clear mandate» in the upcoming assembly elections in five states. Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana are set to go to polls anytime later this year. The party also discussed the preparedness of its organization for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which as it seems are due in April-May 2024. Congress chief of all poll-bound States has given presentations during the meeting about their strategy and preparations, sources said. The Congress said the party is «fully ready for the battle ahead» and it is confident that the people are «wanting change». «We will fulfill their expectations of law and order, freedom, social and economic justice, equality and equity,» the party took a resolution during the meeting. Also, the Congress party has yet again raised their demand for a greater reservation for women in legislative roles, a day ahead of the week-long special session of Parliament. In a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the Congress Working Committee demands that the Women's Reservation Bill must be passed during the special session of Parliament. «Bills introduced/ passed in Rajya Sabha do not lapse.
