National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that 23 candidates have achieved a perfect score of 100 in the JEE-Main engineering entrance exam. The majority of these high scorers hail from Telangana. A total of 11.70 lakh candidates appeared for this crucial exam. Out of the 100 NTA scorers, seven are from Telangana, two from Haryana, three each from Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, two from Delhi, and one each from Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The NTA officials clarified that the NTA score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained but represents normalised scores. A senior official explained, «NTA scores are normalised scores across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session. The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.»

India, with a record haul of 107 medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games, has written a glittering chapter in the country's sporting history, while also giving a strong reason to start dreaming about a best-ever Olympic performance next year in Paris. The 660-strong contingent bagged 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze at the continental showpiece, fetching 37 more medals than at the 2018 Jakarta Games. Indian athletes even surpassed their own expectations in some of the events such as shooting and archery, giving the country its best ever hauls in these disciplines.

Asian Games here on Saturday. TikTok said it will halt its online retail operation in Indonesia on Wednesday to comply with the country's decision to ban e-commerce transactions on social media platforms — a big blow to the video platform's fastest-growing market. The Indonesian government announced the new regulation, which prohibits social media companies from facilitating sales of products on their platforms, on Sept 28 in a bid to protect small businesses from e-commerce competition, accusing the popular apps and websites of predatory pricing. The Chinese-owned video sharing app said in a statement it will stop facilitating e-commerce sales in TikTok Shop Indonesia by 5 pm Wednesday.
