markets COST pandemic Kingstone Experts reports rights 2024 Will car prices come down in 2024? Industry experts share their outlook
see similar prices to what was seen in 2023, with automotive experts saying not to expect the cost for a vehicle to return to pre-pandemic levels anytime soon.During the COVID-19 pandemic, inventory became a big factor due to supply chain issues impacting semiconductors and automotive computer chips, and with it came higher prices due to fewer new and used cars available for purchase.“So when there (are) fewer cars sold and new cars sold, obviously it has a direct impact on the used market,” Baris Akyurek, vice-president of insights and intelligence at Autotrader.ca, told Global News in an interview. “That’s why we have been seeing inflated prices.”As 2023 came to a close, however, Akyurek said it has been a “pretty positive” year in terms of availability.According to Auto Trader’s 2023 trends report released in September, the new car supply had increased from the month prior, with the organization predicting modest increases to inventory in the coming years.

Spurn point would be a desolate place to die. Stretching five precarious kilometres into the North Sea, the constantly shifting finger of East Yorkshire coast is little more than a narrow sand bank held together by sea grass, the only obvious signs of human habitation a long-abandoned lifeboat station and lighthouse, both now given over to the winds and the rain. It is a permanent home solely to wading birds and the bugs they feast on, perhaps to the odd vole.

Citi CEO Platform Kingstone Experts show shock It’s been ‘hard to sell’ in many housing markets across Canada. Here’s why
housing markets in many parts of Canada are pushing some home sellers to make hard-fought concessions on price — or delay their plans to sell until next year — in the wake of higher rates.Real estate experts who spoke to Global News say patience and price flexibility are key to landing a sale in today’s market, and that waiting until spring in hopes of a better deal is far from a sure thing.October sales figures from the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) released this week showed a “sizable decline” in activity in most of the country’s biggest markets.Sales volumes dropped 5.6 per cent from September, according to CREA, with chair Larry Cerqua saying that buyers might’ve entered an early “hibernation” as higher interest rates limit buying power across the country.Lorna Willis, an agent with Re/Max Finest Realty in Kingston, Ont., says that the number of homes sold in that city was down nine per cent year over year in October, with average prices down 5.3 per cent annually. The main thing that’s changed in the region is how long it takes to sell a home, according to Willis.

fall What Canadians need to know about COVID rapid tests as fall approaches
COVID-19 variants across the country, attention is once again turning to rapid antigen tests. However, this flu season is different from the last, as the federal government stopped its shipments of rapid tests to the provinces and territories, meaning Canadians may have to look a little harder to find them, or even pay out of pocket, experts say.Given the dwindling supply, increasing numbers of expired tests and the emergence of new COVID-19 variants in the country, the question arises: Are rapid tests still effective?“I still see a value in the tests, because SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID sheds for a longer time than we tend to see with some the other respiratory infections,” explained Dr. Gerald Evans, infectious disease specialist at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont.“It would be able to inform you of the likelihood you might have to be off work for a little bit longer than you were expecting.”In March 2023, the federal government ended new shipments of rapid antigen tests to provinces and territories.
