Palm Springs International Film Festival will honor Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" with the Vanguard Award. Recognizing both the film's cast and director for their collaborative excellence, the Vanguard Award will be presented to Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese, Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio (also an Academy Award winner), and Lily Gladstone, a nominee for the Gotham Award. All three recipients will be present at the event, as confirmed by the Palm Springs International Film Awards. Scheduled for January 4, 2024, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, the Film Awards ceremony will kick off the festival, which will continue through January 15, 2024.

That's a particularly big relief after three consecutive summers that all ranked among the state's 10 most sizzling on record. The northern third of California was warmer than usual (compared with the past 30 years) because of a high-pressure system over the Pacific Northwest that reached into the northernmost parts of the state, McEvoy said.

As of Saturday morning, Hurricane Hilary was situated approximately 240 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. The National Hurricane Center has categorized Hilary as a «large and powerful» storm, characterized by maximum sustained winds clocking in at 130 mph, as per a report in USA Today. Early on Saturday, the National Weather Service in San Diego noted that Hilary had accelerated and deviated slightly eastward in its trajectory. Consequently, the period with the most pronounced impacts from the hurricane is projected to span from Sunday morning until evening. In light of these conditions, the National Weather Service is advising residents to take precautions such as securing valuable items in and around their homes and refraining from driving on roads that are submerged due to flooding.
