Why you should ‘invest today’ in Bonds, Suresh Darak explains to retail investors
RBI rate cut looming, retail investors often find themselves questioning the right time to enter the bond market. But according to Suresh Darak, Founder of Bondbazaar, the best time to invest is now—not later. In an interaction with ETMarkets, Darak emphasized that retail investors shouldn't attempt to time the market like traders. “Retail is not a trader,” he said, adding that unlike mutual funds or institutions that can actively navigate interest rate cycles, individual investors should focus on capital efficiency and steady income.

The US Fed can't reduce long-term bond yields and the use of force will cause more problems than it solves
There’s no such thing as a sure thing in financial markets, but some things come pretty close. One of them is the proposition that there will be more interest-rate cuts next year—and another is that these reductions will have little to no effect on long-term rates.First, the cuts. US Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell may have presided over his last announcement of a decrease, but odds are his successor will cut rates further next year.

Why is the US Fed about to slow its bond offloading down?
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. The United States Federal Reserve has raised some questions recently, since it has decided to slow the pace at which it is shrinking its pile of over $4 trillion Treasury securities. For example: Is it merely preparing for an adjustment to the federal debt limit, or is it trying to avert a crisis in the US government bond market? With apologies for dampening the drama, I’m going with the mundane explanation.

Global rebound enters day two, Wall Street lags
Many short-term positioning and momentum indicators suggest Wall Street was oversold, so in that light a continuation of the recovery is understandable. Chances for a truce in the Ukraine-Russia war, slender as they may be, are also lending some support to risky assets at the margins.

Mint Quick Edit | Can India’s sovereign bonds attract more foreign inflows?
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. Reports suggest that the Securities and Exchange Board of India will soon ease the way for foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) that intend to invest only in government securities. While these bonds saw inflows of about $14.5 billion via the “fully accessible route" in 2024, aided partly by their inclusion in the JP Morgan Emerging Market Index, more FPI money would have come in had US sovereign bond yields not surged after Donald Trump’s election win.
