Justin Trudeau's remarks attempt to shift focus from China links
Justin Trudeau's allegations against India's «role» in killing of a Sikh terrorist on Canadian soil could be a diversionary tactic to save his political skin with the ruling Liberal Party facing a probe for its links with China. Trudeau is facing heat in the case and he may have been motivated to label unsubstantiated allegations against India as a diversionary tactic, according to observers of Canadian politics. «The allegation on the floor of Parliament is a diversionary plot on the Canadian PM's part to distract attention from the public inquiry of election interference in Canada that has just started and which will inevitably show the Liberal Party's deep ties to Beijing and Trudeau's own implication therein. He has essentially chosen to throw the India relationship under the bus to save his political skin,» quipped a source who did not want to be named. Trudeau's government has faced growing criticism over the past several months after media reports surfaced alleging that China sought to interfere in the 2019 and 2021 Canadian elections. Also read: Hate crimes, violence in Canada, says India's travel advisory Earlier this year, a Canadian lawmaker stepped down from Trudeau's Liberal Party after a media report raised questions about his dealings with China.

Asian stocks struggle as oil surge sets stage for hawkish Fed
surging oil prices drive inflation and set the scene for the Federal Reserve to project interest rates staying higher for longer. Brent crude futures eased from 10-month highs overnight but at $94.26 a barrel are up 30% in three months thanks to Saudi Arabia and Russia vowing to extend output cuts. Higher energy costs led to a bigger-than-expected spike in Canadian inflation, overnight data showed, lifting the loonie and triggering selling in the Treasury market. Benchmark 10-year Treasury yields hit their highest since 2007 at 4.371% overnight and were last at 4.36%. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.2%, as did Japan's Nikkei. 9 separatist outfits supporting terror groups have bases in Canada; India's deportation requests ignored: Officials
Canada and despite multiple deportation requests Ottawa has taken no action against those involved in heinous crimes including the killing of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, officials here said on Tuesday. They said that pro-Khalistani outfits such as the World Sikh Organization (WSO), Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) working at the behest of Pakistan have been allegedly operating freely form the Canadian soil. They said allegations levelled against India by the Canadian authorities and politicians in relation to the murder of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist, are incorrect and based on unsubstantiated assumptions. The issue of deportations of wanted terrorists and gangsters have been raised by Indian authorities at multiple diplomatic and security talks but the Canadian authorities remained non-committal and brazen in support of these terror elements, the officials said. Multiple dossiers have been handed over to the Canadian side but India's deportation requests have gone unaddressed, they said, adding at least nine separatist organisations supporting terror groups have found their bases in Canada. Eight individuals involved in terror activities and as many gangsters, who have been conspiring with Pakistan's ISI, have found a safe haven in Canada, the officials said. They said that deportation requests for these people — including Gurwant Singh who was involved in terrorist activities in early 1990s — have been pending with the Canadian authorities for years now.
