Chandrayaan 3 Moon landing: ISRO's Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander is set to land on the Moon's South Pole today evening i.e. on 23 August. ISRO said it is all set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) for its ambitious third Moon mission Chandrayaan-3's Lander Module (LM) to touch down on the lunar surface.

NEW DELHI : The ministry of road transport and highways has asked states and union territories to stop charging additional levies in the form of passenger tax, checkpost tax and border tax from tourist vehicles. In a letter to principal secretaries, transport secretaries and transport commissioners of states and UTs, the road ministry said vehicles with all India tourist permits have a mechanism where permit fees are shared with the states.

New Delhi: The union ministry of finance has increased the windfall tax on sale of locally produced crude oil to ₹7,100 per tonne. For the past two weeks, the windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil was ₹4,250 per tonne. The increase would come into effect from 15 August.

Coast Guard on Monday carried out a mid-sea medical evacuation of a critically ill mariner aboard a foreign vessel off the Kerala coast amidst extreme weather conditions, a Defence statement said. The Coast Guard carried out the medical evacuation of mariner Valid Ola Gilbert, a Filipino national, from MV Evelyn Maersk onboard one of its vessels as it was difficult to shift him to the Advance Light Helicopter (ALH), the statement said. The vessel was enroute from Colombo to Suez Canal and was 110 nautical miles away from Kochi when the request for aid was received, it said.
