Russia Vs The West: Two and a half decades in power, is Vladimir Putin still winning?
Vladimir Putin's two-and-a-half decades in power, Western leaders thought they understood the strategy of the Kremlin leader and argued that Russia merited a place as an international partner. But that approach was blown apart two years ago on February 24, 2022, when Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, consigning to a distant past images such as that of the smiling Russian leader bounding up the steps of Macron's Mediterranean Fort de Bregancon residence in August 2019 bearing flowers for the French leader's wife Brigitte.

Qatar says Hamas is delivering medication to the 100 hostages in Gaza
Qatari Foreign Ministry said that Hamas has started delivering medication for the approximately 100 hostages held in Gaza, a month after the medications arrived in Gaza. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Dr. Majed Al-Ansari said on Tuesday evening that Hamas confirmed they had begun to deliver the medications to the hostages in exchange for medicines and humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. France and Qatar mediated a deal in January for the shipment of medicine for dozens of hostages held by Hamas arrived in Gaza. The deal was the first agreement between Israel and the militant group since a weeklong cease-fire in November, but there was no evidence that the medications had arrived.

France's highest civilian honour «Chevalier de la Legion d'honneur» at a ceremony on Tuesday. Author of several books and the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor was conferred the prestigious award at the French Embassy by French Senate President Gerard Larcher. The Boom in Battery Metals for EVs Is Turning to Bust
When the world’s most valuable lithium company last year announced plans for a $1.3 billion plant in South Carolina, local officials hailed it as transformative for the Palmetto State. The high-tech project from Charlotte, N.C.-based Albemarle was designed to process different sources of lithium, including from recycled batteries, and serve as a supplier of the critical mineral for South Carolina’s burgeoning electric-vehicle industry. Less than a year later, those plans have been hobbled by a crash in battery metal prices, undercut by a slowdown in electric-vehicle sales growth in the U.S.

India has slipped to the 85th spot on the Henley Passport Index. India had gone up to 80th position in January when the rankings for 2024 were unveiled. The Henley Passport Index is updated monthly. Six countries still jointly hold the top position in the 2024 Henley Passport Index, offering their citizens visa-free access to a record-breaking number of destinations. The most powerful passports in the world now allow citizens of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Singapore to travel 194 out of 227 destinations worldwide without requiring a visa, according to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Four EU members have joined them at the top: Germany, Italy, Spain, and France.

UN likely to vote Tuesday on Gaza ceasefire, US signals veto
United Nations Security Council is likely to vote on Tuesday on an Algerian push for the 15-member body to demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, said diplomats, a move the United States signaled it would veto. Algeria put forward an initial draft resolution more than two weeks ago. But U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield quickly said the text could jeopardize «sensitive negotiations» aimed at brokering a pause in the war.

Kylian Mbappe, PSG and the dangers of a loveless marriage
Paris St.-Germain, his hometown team, might have carried with them an unmistakable sense of deja vu. They might, uniformly, have carried not a single direct quote from anyone involved, ensuring that all sides have precious room to maneuver should the situation change in the weeks ahead. They might have been copied and pasted, almost verbatim, from the last time this happened, and the time before that. But this is different. This is not a negotiating ploy. This is not a power struggle. He's going. No, really. On the count of five. Given the background, of course, the cynical response is also the sensible one. Mbappé has form here, after all. It is less than two years since he and PSG last came to the brink, his boxes packed, his desk emptied, his goodbye card signed.

How much longer will of 5 members continue to override collective voice of 188 nations: India on UNSC
UNITED NATIONS: Underlining the need for comprehensive reform of the Security Council, India has questioned how much longer can the will of five permanent members of the powerful UN body continue to override the collective voice of the world organisation's 188 member states. India's Permanent Representative at the UN Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, speaking at the Inter-Governmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform on Friday, stressed that “equity" must be the cornerstone of global efforts to reform the 15-nation UN body. “Equity demands that every nation, irrespective of its size or power, be afforded an equal opportunity…to shape global decision-making,” she said, adding that “Our question therefore is how much longer will the will of five members continue to override the collective voice of 188 member states?”.
