Cashback is passe. These fintechs offer crypto, digital gold as card rewards
Mint found out about two fintechs—ANQ Finance and GoSats.io— that offer digital gold and bitcoin as rewards for any spending done via their prepaid cards. Both the fintechs suggested that traditional card cashbacks are in the form of reward points which need to be accumulated for benefits that , however, depreciate over time. And it happens frequently whenever card issuers go in for devaluations of their popular cards, as in the case of Axis Magnus or HDFC Infinia.

CBAM, permanent establishment rules, transfer pricing key in India’s outbound FDI: EY
global concern surrounding environmental issues and clean energy pose certain threats to Indian companies planning to invest abroad, consultancy major EY said in a report. While deeper insights are needed in areas like Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), transfer pricing regime, permanent establishment rules, it said that higher investment limits for strategic PSUs investing overseas and investment by family offices are expected to spur overseas investments. India’s outward foreign investment increased to $22.88 billion in FY23 from $1 billion in FY02. On CBAM, it said: “Effective October 2023, it will be an additional cost for importers of specific emission-intensive product categories into the EU and means new compliance and reporting obligations. Companies therefore need to proactively address CBAM-related challenges for exporting ‘covered products’ to their overseas subsidiaries by understanding the requirements, assessing the potential impact on their operations and by developing a compliance plan”.

New plastic waste management rules to benefit ITC, hit Nestle and Britannia: Kotak Equities
recycling and reuse of plastic packaging may hurt consumer plays such as Britannia Industries, Colgate Palmolive India and Nestle India while benefiting ITC, Ganesha Ecosphere, EPL, and Uflex, according to Kotak Institutional equities. The new rules, which could put India ahead in the global league in terms of handling plastic waste problems, will increase the packaging costs of consumer staple companies, Kotak. On the other hand, plastic recyclers and innovative packaging companies such as Ganesh, EPL, Uflex and ITC, which can provide solutions for making plastic recyclable, develop products using post-consumer recycled material (PCR), and offer economical alternatives to plastics, will be the key beneficiaries of the roll-out of the new rules.

Lab-grown diamond exports expected to grow by 7-9% in FY25: Report
Diamonds (LGDs) exports are expected to witness a revival in FY25, with exports expected to grow by 7-9% to reach a value of~US$1500-1530 million, according to CareEdge Advisory. LGD exports have been declining in recent time, and have seen around 16.5% decline y-o-y for FY24. While the sales volume of LGDs have been growing, the declining prices have impacted the exports. Nevertheless, the depreciating rupee is likely to act as a cushion for the industry, believes CareEdge Advisory. Going forward the demand for LGD exports are expected to revive in FY25, as demand for naturally mined diamonds may remain sluggish. This is attributed to its price point, environmental sustainability, and intensified competition from India against other leading LGD-producing nations.

We expect strong momentum to continue in business: Warren Harris, Tata Tech
«We are always going to have an exposure to new energy vehicle companies because a lot of innovation comes from those companies but there are some volatility issues that we have to grapple with and I think we have successfully done that in the context of the last fiscal year. So, we are very pleased with FY24 and the solid finish to the year that we had in Q4,» says Warren Harris, CEO & MD, Tata Tech. What has led to the revenue softness in the fourth quarter, especially the services segment for you? I would challenge the perception that growth has not been strong. If we look at the full year, we grew our business by 15.9% in Indian rupees. If we look at services specifically, we grew over 13%. I signalled in January that we had some runoff at VinFast as we transitioned from the completion of our engineering work to launch support.
