Kangana Ranaut refuses to apologise for calling Urmila Matondkar a ‘porn star’, claims adult film actors are ‘respected’ in India
Actress turned politician Kangana Ranaut remains undeterred and unapologetic in the face of criticism. The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ star, who recently made her debut as a politician, opened up on her “soft porn star” jibe at ‘90s actress Urmila Matondkar during the Times Now Summit on Wednesday. Addressing the audience, she said that if actresses can be known by epithets such as Sheila Ki Jawani, they should not object to being called a porn star. She also claimed that ‘porn star’ is not a slur as adult film actors are respected in India. “I am not justifying anything. If these actresses are comfortable with words such as tandoori murgi, item girl, Sheila ki Jawani, why is it seen as something violating? It is a matter of fact, if they are comfortable with this, why do you want to shame them? I personally do not think I had any intention of shaming her (Urmila Matondkar) because she is very comfortable in that role..” she told the media.
