All three branches of INSTC – Western, Trans-Caspian and Eastern – are working. Each of these routes has its own infrastructure characteristics and perspectives, uniting certain groups of member countries of INSTC, with India and Russia being actively involved in the work of the corridor on all three routes, RZD CEO pointed out. The Western route of INSTC connects Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran by rail and auto transport for connecting to India and Persian Gulf countries.

North Korea has 191 athletes signed up for the Asian Games starting next week, according to organisers, suggesting the country is poised to end its more than three-year isolation from the global sporting arena. Prior to that, North Korea had not sent any of its domestic athletes to overseas competitions since the pandemic. The sporting action at the Games in Hangzhou starts on September 19, four days before the opening ceremony, with North Korea scheduled to face Taiwan in men's football that day. Three central banks have joined the beta phase of bank messaging platform SWIFT’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) interoperability project, the company announced Sept. 13. It has also entered a new phase of sandbox testing, it said.

The co-operative in March published the findings of a 12-week period of sandbox testing, in which almost 5,000 transactions were simulated between two different blockchain networks and with existing fiat-based payment systems. The beta solution has taken its next step, with three central banks and monetary authorities, including the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the National Bank of Kazakhstan, integrating the solution with their own infrastructure for direct testing.Swift has also initiated a second phase of sandbox testing, in which commercial banks, central banks and financial market infrastructures are exploring additional use cases, including trigger-based payments for digital trade platforms, foreign exchange models, delivery vs payment and liquidity saving mechanisms.
