Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group operating along the Afghan-Pakistani border, allegedly carried out a suicide attack on the Jandola military camp in the Tank District of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to several media reports. Pakistani news outlet Geo News reported that the Pakistan army killed eight to nine militants following the suicide attack near the Frontier Corps (FC) camp in South Waziristan district. Police officials told the media that a loud explosion was heard in Jandola, followed by heavy gunfire. Militants attempted to attack the Jandola checkpost but were stopped by Pakistan security forces. A suicide bomber, however, exploded a vehicle near the FC camp, Geo News quoted security sources as saying. The attack comes days after the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant group, on March 11, hijacked the Jaffar Express, a train en route from Quetta to Peshawar, in the strategic Bolan Valley. The train, which was carrying over 450 passengers, including 200 security personnel, became the center of a high-stakes standoff between the BLA and Pakistani security forces. Pakistani forces reported on Wednesday that they had eliminated all 50 attackers. According to military statements, the assailants killed 21 passengers, while the remaining passengers were safely rescued.
