Action Fighting show country shock Ex-PM Cameron makes shock return to UK government; Here's all you need to know
David Cameron sensationally returned to the British government as foreign secretary on Monday, as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak shook up his top team with a general election looming next year. Cameron's comeback from the political wilderness came as Sunak sacked right-wing firebrand Suella Braverman as interior minister to assert his authority over the Conservative party, which trail the Labour opposition in polls. James Cleverly moved from the foreign ministry to succeed Braverman after critics accused her of heightening tensions during weeks of contentious pro-Palestinian demonstrations and counter-protests. Cameron quit as prime minister in 2016 after losing the Brexit referendum, standing down as an MP that year, before later becoming mired in a lobbying scandal that was seen as tarnishing his reputation. The former leader, whose foreign policy record as prime minister is viewed as chequered at best, said he «gladly accepted» his new role as Britain faced «a daunting set of international challenges». «While I have been out of front-line politics for the last seven years, I hope that my experience — as Conservative leader for 11 years and prime minister for six — will assist me in helping the prime minister to meet these vital challenges,» Cameron added, citing the Israel-Hamas war and Russia's conflict in Ukraine. Cameron will be made a life peer in the House of Lords — Britain's unelected upper chamber of parliament — Downing Street announced, making him eligible to sit in government. The last lord as foreign secretary was Peter Carrington, who quit Margaret Thatcher's government after Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands in 1982. Cameron was instrumental in leading western countries' intervention in Libya in

Citi FIVE Waters Parke country evacuation 'One war for another': Ukrainian refugees return from Israel
Kharkiv after Russia invaded last year, taking refuge in Israel's coastal town of Ashkelon, near Gaza. Her husband had worked in Israel in the past, and she thought taking their three children there — away from Russian attacks — would guarantee living in peace. But then came October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel, leading to a war that has since killed thousands. Like several thousand other Ukrainian refugees, Kocheva fled war for a second time. «If I am killed then at least it's on my native land,» the 39-year-old said. When Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, Kocheva spent ten days hiding in a basement in Kharkiv, which almost fell to the Russian army. Five months into the invasion, the family left for Israel. They began a new life in Ashkelon, some 10 kilometres (six miles) from Gaza. During the surprise attack by Hamas — which killed some 1,200 people — she felt she needed to leave. «My hands started to shake and I had the same feeling that I did when it all started in our country,» she said. Israel then launched a military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian militant group Hamas has said over 11,000 have since died.
