Rs 32,000 crore-inflow in 12 days! 7 reasons why FIIs are chasing Indian stocks non-stop
Sensex and Nifty to fresh all-time peaks, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have been buying Indian stocks non-stop with a cumulative inflow of Rs 32,000 crore on Dalal Street in 12 trading sessions. FIIs can be seen pouring money into India funds at the cost of China, Brazil, Taiwan and South Korea as consensus is gradually building on imminent rate cuts in the second half of 2024. This month's buying comes after FII outflows worth over Rs 34,000 crore in the last 2 months. For 12 consecutive trading sessions from June 7 till June 25, FIIs have been net buyers on Dalal Street, according to Sebi data.

Has Nostradamus' prediction on World War 3 failed? Who was he and what did he say?
French astronomer Nostradamus prove to be wrong? This question looms large after his prophecy about the World War 3 has not come true so far. According to the 'Wion', Nostradamus predicted something which may be interpreted as the beginning of World War 3. He expected a “combat and naval battle” between China and the US, though he did not take their names. The 16th-century philosopher and physicist predicted that the “Red adversary will become pale with fear. Putting the great Ocean in dread”. These lines are interpreted as the blockade of China by the US Navy and a confrontation between the two rival forces. This prediction is especially significant because Beijing and Washington have indulged in blaming each other for rising tension on the issue of Taiwan. Some of the US lawmakers have openly threatened China with attacks and war if Beijing threatens Taipei.

Asian shares shaky as investors wary before US inflation data
markets braced for a key U.S. inflation reading, while the yen lurked just shy of 160 per dollar level, keeping traders on alert for another round of intervention by Japanese authorities. Risk sentiment was also capped as hawkish comments from Federal Reserve officials kept near-term U.S. rate cut expectations in check in a boost to the dollar.

Four key employment focused strategies for services-led economic development
The future of developing countries is in services. This may sound odd in view of the fact that industrialization has been the traditional road to growth and eventual prosperity, one travelled by all of today’s rich economies and by more recent successes such as South Korea, Taiwan and China. Manufacturing seems even more essential given that industrial policies to revive it are back in fashion in the US and Europe.

US and China hold first informal nuclear talks in 5 years, eyeing Taiwan
United States and China resumed semi-official nuclear arms talks in March for the first time in five years, with Beijing's representatives telling U.S. counterparts that they would not resort to atomic threats over Taiwan, according to two American delegates who attended. The Chinese representatives offered reassurances after their U.S. interlocutors raised concerns that China might use, or threaten to use, nuclear weapons if it faced defeat in a conflict over Taiwan. Beijing views the democratically governed island as its territory, a claim rejected by the government in Taipei. «They told the U.S. side that they were absolutely convinced that they are able to prevail in a conventional fight over Taiwan without using nuclear weapons,» said scholar David Santoro, the U.S. organiser of the Track Two talks, the details of which are being reported by Reuters for the first time.

SOP in final stages to facilitate visa for Chinese technicians needed in mfg units: Official
PLI scheme, the government is in the final stages to put in place similar processes for other manufacturing units, an official said. The move assumes significance as some domestic manufacturing firms have flagged the issue of delay in getting visas for Chinese technicians, who are required for works like installation or repair of certain machines, besides training workers in India. «Most of the PLI (production-linked incentive scheme) visas have been taken care of. For general manufacturing also, we are trying to create a better streamlined SOP… that is with the Ministry of Home Affairs. It's at the final stages. We are hoping to sort it out. We have done a lot of sensitisation,» the official said. The rollout of SOPs does not require any approval from the Union cabinet as it is an internal process to relax norms «a bit» for facilitating visa applications of Chinese professionals or technicians whose expertise is required by domestic manufacturing units, the official added.

India's employment challenge: 20 million jobs need to be created each year
A number of analysts attribute the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) underperformance in the general election to voter unhappiness with the Narendra Modi government over unemployment, job reservations and farmer livelihoods. The Agnipath scheme of military recruitment came in for criticism during the election campaign and many political commentators expect that the new government will be compelled to make changes to it. We should view interpretations of election results with some scepticism, but it does appear that the issue of inadequate employment opportunities has bubbled up to the surface of our political ocean.
