NEW DELHI : New Delhi: India on Monday pressed for the revival of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) appellate body, which has remained defunct for over four years after the US refused to approve its members. At the WTO's ongoing 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) in Abu Dhabi, India said this should be the top priority for any reform process of the multilateral trade body.

Reliance Industries Ltd on Wednesday informed exchanges that the company has inked a binding agreement with Walt Disney Co to merge their media operations in India. Reliance Industries Limited (“RIL”), Viacom 18 Media Private Limited (“Viacom18”) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) (“Disney”) today announced the signing of binding definitive agreements to form a joint venture (“JV”) that will combine the businesses of Viacom18 and Star India. As part of the transaction, the media undertaking of Viacom18 will be merged into Star India Private Limited (“SIPL”) through a court-approved scheme of arrangement. In addition, RIL has agreed to invest at closing Rs 11,500 crore (~US$ 1.4 billion) into the JV for its growth strategy.

BENGALURU : Accenture Plc will acquire Mindcurv, German IT services and data analytics firm, to expand its commercial services globally, the US company said in a release. Accenture Song, the parent company’s digital agency, agreed to acquire the Essen-headquartered IT services company for an undisclosed amount. Mindcurv provides digital services to clients in the manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, life sciences and chemicals sectors, most of whom are based in Europe.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on Wednesday said a ‘potential collision’ is expected between two satellites one from the US and the other from Russia about 600 km above the earth on February 28 which could result in significant debris generation. National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Wednesday told Byju’s to respond to two separate insolvency petitions filed against the troubled edtech firm by US lenders and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In the first matter, the Bengaluru bench of NCLT provided Byju’s parent Think & Learn three weeks from now to file its objections to a petition filed by Glas Trust Company LLC, the administrative agent appointed by a group of lenders that had extended a $1.2-billion term loan B to its US subsidiary Alpha Inc to collect the debt under the guarantee agreement.

KKR & Co. is exploring options including selling its controlling stake in India’s JB Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. amid interest from potential buyers, according to people familiar with the matter. The US private equity firm is looking to hire financial advisers to help evaluate a sale of its 53.8% stake in the Mumbai-based company, the people said, asking not to be identified as the matter is private. Other buyout firms and industry players have shown preliminary interest in buying KKR’s stake, the people said. Shares of the company, which is known as JB Pharma, have climbed 68% in the past 12 months, valuing the firm at just over $3 billion.
