Haryana assembly polls: Grandchildren of four ex-CMs may figure on BJP list
Haryana, the BJP is looking to bet on several dynasts as its top leadership gathered here on Thursday to finalise the candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. The party may offer October 1 poll tickets to the grandkids of four past chief ministers, including Haryana's three Lals (Bhajan, Bansi, and Devi). The BJP is expected to field Bhajan Lal's grandson, Bhavya Bishnoi, MLA from Adampur, and Bansi Lal's granddaughter, Shruti Choudhry, from Tosham, as well as Aditya Devi Lal, grandson of Devi Lal, from Dabwali. Besides, former chief minister Rao Birender Singh's granddaughter, Arti Rao, is also a strong contender from Ateli. Arti's father, Rao Inderjit Singh, is a Union minister. In last assembly polls, she was not considered by the BJP as her father was a union minister.

Special Court acquits man in 37-year-old corruption case
Surendra Singh Ahluwalia was acquitted in a 37-year-old corruption case by special judge Anil Antil on July 12, reported TOI. «Delay by any stakeholder or cog in the dispensation of the criminal justice system, be it by the investigating agency or by the unscrupulous devices adopted by the accused, not only causes miscarriage of justice, but the delay also becomes an instrument of inflicting a fatal blow on the efforts of justice dispensation,» said Justice Antil. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 1987 filed an FIR against Ahluwalia, who was at the time the chief secretary of Nagaland and three others — V Bhaskaran, manager of Bank of Baroda, Coimbatore, Inderjit Singh, Ahluwalia’s brother and Bank of Baroda manager in Kohima, and Nyamo Lotha for fraud, destruction of evidence, corruption and other crimes.

Government says over 1.06 lakh companies voluntarily exited in last five years
Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). «From FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24 (up to 30th November, 2023) 1,06,561 companies have exited voluntarily under section 248(2) of the Companies Act, 2013. »From FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24 (up to 30th September 2023) final reports of 1,168 companies have been submitted by liquidators under section 59 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code), of which final dissolution orders have been passed by NCLT in 633 cases during the said period," Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh told the Lok Sabha.

NITI Aayog will come up with a combined report from the third to sixth edition of the Composite Water Management Index even as it explores other channels to take the task of indexing to make the data and its analysis more holistic, ministry of state for planning Rao Inderjit Singh said. Minister’s response to a question in Rajya Sabha comes as the Aayog has not been releasing the annual index since its second edition in 2019. Govt to run pilot for growth hubs programme in four cities: MoS Rao Inderjit Singh
Varanasi, Surat and Visakhapatnam for running its pilot project under the Growth Hubs programme, minister of state for planning Rao Inderjit Singh said in response to a question in Rajya Sabha on Monday. “The Growth Hubs programme is an initiative to develop city regions in a planned manner in order to achieve the economic target of making India a $30 trillion economy by 2047 under its Viksit Bharat plan,” he said. “The Growth Hubs programme aims to develop a template for devising economic growth strategy for identified city regions across the country and prepare a roadmap for achieving the same which inter alia includes identification of key growth drivers, enablers and interventions,” he added. According to the minister, the city regions have been defined as a group of districts which are economically and socially adjacent, related, or co-dependent and the cities have been selected based on the criteria of geographic spread, size and scale. “Given the scale of the project, an institutional mechanism has been put in place wherein a National Steering committee chaired by CEO, NITI Aayog has been set-up involving officials from ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) and domain experts,” he said. “In addition, each state (Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh) has constituted a steering committee for strategic interventions and overall monitoring under the chairmanship of chief secretary,” he said, adding that states have also constituted designated cells for operational matters. “A statement of intent has been signed by NITI Aayog with Institute of Sustainability, Employment and Growth ( ISEG ) Foundation and World Resources Institute (WRI) India for the project,” he said. States witness sharp increase in per capita income during 2022-23
