West Asia conflict: IIM Ahmedabad moves Dubai batch to India
Mint that he and the institute’s director met and decided to bring the Dubai cohort to the Ahmedabad campus until the war subsides. The conflict involving the US and Israel against Iran, now in its third week, has spilled across West Asia, forcing Indian companies and institutions operating in the region to reassess their operations and contingency plans.Other Indian educational institutions with campuses in Dubai are also weighing how best to continue classes if the conflict escalates.Besides IIM Ahmedabad, BITS Pilani operates an engineering campus in Dubai that was established in 2000. Mint has learnt that the college has started online classes, though it did not respond to Mint’s queries.SP Jain School of Global Management and Amity University also have campuses in Dubai but did not respond to queries emailed last week.Education analysts said the decision to relocate students or move online often depends less on pedagogy and more on logistics.“IIM Ahmedabad has taken a smart move by bringing the entire batch in Dubai to India.

AIFs seek easier accreditation process, sharper incentives for wealthy investors

Met Gala 2026: Where have India's true tastemakers gone?
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. This year’s Met Gala, the fancy-dress competition for the ultra-wealthy, was a memorable one. Not just because one of the world’s richest tech bros, Jeff Bezos, and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, served as honorary chairs—a first—but also because the evening of 4 May saw the largest Indian contingent yet ascend the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with each attendee reportedly paying $100,000 to attend fashion’s most exclusive fund-raiser.Ananya Birla, Isha Ambani, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Sudha Reddy, Natasha Poonawalla, Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Gauravi Kumari were in attendance, presenting their interpretation of the 2026 Met Gala dress code, “Fashion is Art”, which challenged guests to treat the body as a canvas, express their relationship with fashion “as an embodied art form and celebrate the countless depictions of the dressed body throughout art history”.Did the Indian contingent get the memo right? That depends on whether you believe fashion as art is best expressed through spectacle, symbolism or genuine risk-taking.

How mall brands won big at the Met Gala
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories.Among all the fashion labels worn by stars on the Met Gala red carpet Monday night, two brands seemed out of place: Gap and Zara.Kendall Jenner wore a flowing, Greek-inspired cotton gown by GapStudio, a premium line the company debuted last year. Bad Bunny wore a black custom tuxedo from Zara (and prosthetics that made him look elderly, seemingly a nod to the “aging bodies” section of the “Costume Art” exhibit the gala feted).

Margin trading hits ₹1 trillion. The hidden risks in your stock investment plan
₹1 trillion, highlighting a surge in leveraged stock buying even as risks loom large for retail investors.Data from the National Stock Exchange shows total outstanding funded stock positions across brokers have surpassed ₹1 trillion, reflecting how aggressively investors have embraced leveraged stock buying in recent years. The pitch is tempting: put in a fraction of the money, borrow the rest from your broker, and take a larger position in a stock you are bullish on. But the mechanics of margin trading facilities (MTF) carry risks that are easy to underestimate.MTF lets investors buy stocks by paying only part of the total transaction value upfront.

Let the Bitcoin bubble deflate: It’s time to tokenize assets that hold intrinsic value
An unintended consequence of the brutal bear market in Bitcoin has been to focus the blockchain industry’s attention where it is most needed: real-world assets. Both institutional and individual investors want to progress beyond holding speculative cryptocurrencies or stable digital dollars with limited upside. They have ample demand for tokenized bonds, equities, funds, structured products and sovereign assets like the carbon sink in the mangroves and seagrasses of Seychelles.By distributing risks over small parcels, tokens can bring big-ticket investments like private equity, credit and expensive artwork to ordinary people. The rich can exploit the technology for estate planning.
