Joe Biden is directing the US government to take a sweeping approach to artificial intelligence regulation, his most significant action yet to rein in an emerging technology that has sparked both concern and acclaim. The lengthy executive order, released on Monday, sets new standards on security and privacy protections for AI, with far-reaching impacts on companies. Developers such as Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com Inc and Alphabet Inc’s Google will be directed to put powerful AI models through safety tests and submit results to the government before their public release. The rule, which leverages the US government’s position as a top customer for big tech companies, is designed to vet technology with potential national or economic security risks, along with health and safety.

Israel and Palestine's conflict has taken an ugly turn leaving thousands dead, and lakhs homeless. The war which began on October 7, has killed more than 1,400 Israelis and nearly 8,000 Palestinians over the last three weeks. Amid the ongoing war, several organisations such as the UN, UNICEF, WHO, and Amnesty International, among many others, have spoken about the crisis and ways to end it. Not just the organisation, several Hollywood stars and other public figures such as Natalie Portman and Madonna, have spoken out to condemn the violence and offer support to victims. President Joe Biden, after the attack on October 7 in a statement, said that the entire US condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza.

Israel and Gaza since the Israel and Palestine war began on October 07, 2023. With this brutality escalating for over 20 days now, various organizations, including the UN, UNICEF, WHO, and Amnesty International, among many others, have urged for a ceasefire in order to save lives. Apart from these organizations, various artists from Hollywood, including Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Adam Lambert, and others, have come forward in support of the ceasefire. These artists have joined the increasing number of artists who have signed an open letter by lending their voices. This letter urges Congress and President Joe Biden to support a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Hamas. The letter of Artists4Ceasefire was sent to President Joe Biden last week, urging them to get both Israel and Hamas to agree to a cessation of fighting in the three-week war. The letter further added that more than 5,000 people have lost their lives in the last week and a half. Regardless of religion or ethnicity, the actors said they regard all life as sacred and reject the killing of Israeli and Palestinian civilians.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai tells it, his company has always been on the side of consumers. It has paid billions to other industry giants, including Apple and Samsung, he said, to make sure Google's internet search engine worked as well as it should on those companies' devices. Testifying on Monday in Google's landmark antitrust trial, Pichai directly contradicted the Justice Department's claims that his company's huge payments to companies such as Apple to be the default internet search option on their popular devices represent its unchecked monopoly power. Pichai said he had been worried that Apple, in particular, would make it more difficult to use Google's search on its devices and he believed Google had to pay to make sure that wouldn't happen.

Federal Reserve will likely announce it is holding interest rates at a 22-year high on Wednesday, as it looks to tackle inflation without damaging the resilient US economy. Analysts and traders parsing recent Fed speeches overwhelmingly expect the US central bank to hold rates steady for the second meeting in a row as it looks to return inflation to its long-term target of two percent. «Fed commentary has all but confirmed that the Fed will stay on hold in November,» Bank of America economists wrote in a recent note to clients. Interest rate hikes slow down inflation by raising the cost of borrowing from the bank, which dampens economic activity and weakens the labor market. Since peaking at more than seven percent in June last year, inflation as measured by the Fed's favored yardstick has fallen by more than half — though it remains stuck firmly above three percent. Futures traders assign a probability of 99.9 percent that the Fed will vote to hold rates steady in November, according to CME Group data. In a surprising development for many analysts, the Fed's aggressive interest rate policy has not pushed the world's largest economy into a recession, and it looks unlikely to do so in the coming months. In fact, resilient consumer spending fueled higher-than-expected annualized growth of 4.9 percent in the third quarter, building on positive growth in the first half of the year.
