Got less than $680,000 to invest? Morgan Stanley doesn’t want your business
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is shifting its focus to cater to Australia’s affluent individuals, while collaborating with wealth manager Ord Minnett to handle clients with lower net worth. According to the Australian Financial Review, customers possessing less than A$1 million in assets (US$683,000), will be given ‘the option’ to transfer their accounts to 472 employee Ord Minnett. The US firm claims this strategic move allows it prioritize high-net-worth accounts, not-for-profits, and family office funds.

Rebuilding Trust in Carbon Offsets Faces Uphill Battle
The $2 billion voluntary carbon-offsets market has suffered allegations that many credits don’t deliver the emissions cuts they promise, but multiple efforts to rebuild credibility face an uphill battle. Recently the Commodity Futures Trading Commission said it would make policing carbon offsets a priority, Nestlé decided to leave the market and standard setters published guidelines that few existing buyers would meet. As things currently stand, only 5% of companies buying voluntary credits would meet the tough new standards on their proper use, according to Trove Research.

ICICI Bank and state-owned enterprise (SoE) banks like IndusInd Bank, Bank of Baroda (BOB), and State Bank of India (SBI) in particular to record strong earnings in Q1FY24 (April–June). According to the brokerage's analysis, ICICI Bank will likely post significant volume growth for both loans and deposits. Given that SoE banks' margins are declining slowly than private banks', that their loan costs are lower, that their operating costs are dropping sequentially, and that their treasury profits are larger, they should also record healthy profitability.
