A new app, YouTube Create, and some AI-led language tools are being currently tested in India before their global rollout, he added. Mohan, 51, who grew up in Lucknow, is on his first visit to the country after being appointed CEO of YouTube in February last year. Edited excerpts: What are YouTube’s priority areas and expectations from India? I've been on the ground here for a few days now. It's wonderful to see how dynamic the environment here is. The creator economy on YouTube has generated Rs 16,000 crore of economic activity along with 7,50,000 jobs. We're very proud of it and are investing heavily into it. And I think it's just a small example of where this can go.

YouTube has issued a fresh set of guidelines in a blog today in order to tackle artificial intelligence (AI) generated videos being published on the platform. In the blog post that is titled, “Our approach to responsible AI innovation,” YouTube stated that the platform has had policies for a long time towards forbidding “technically manipulated content” as they don’t want such content to misdirect audiences. The platform also went on to say that AI-generated content can cause harm especially if the viewers don’t know if they are altered. As per reports, Jennifer Flannery O’Connor and Emily Moxley both Vice Presidents of Product Management at YouTube said that these guidelines are “especially important” if the videos discuss volatile issues like elections, conflicts or about important political personalities.

YouTube released its “principles” for working with players in the music industry on artificial intelligence (AI) technology, on Aug. 21. 

YouTube is launching an incubator to work with artistes and musicians to explore the use of artificial intelligence in music, according to its blogpost on Monday. The Alphabet unit has signed up Universal Music as its first partner for the Incubator, and will work with artistes including Anitta, ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus, and Max Ricther.

In 2022, YouTube aims to roll out a number of new functionalities, tools, and products for the company’s creators, viewers, and partners -- and per Neal Mohan, Chief Product Officer at the platform, some of the features will also be related to the metaverse, blockchain, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), while looking at how these can be used to ensure more engagement from the platform's users.
