For these firms, creating artificial intelligence (AI) computing infrastructure will entail strategic investments in India’s developing technology ecosystem, industry experts and stakeholders said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the first list of candidates for the upcoming General Elections, hinting at the party's readiness for the big polls. The BJP, as anticipated, unveiled its initial roster of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, comprising more than 195 names. Notable figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 34 Union Ministers and Minister of States feature prominently in this list. It also includes the name of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla along with two former Chief Ministers. PM Modi will contest from his stronghold, Varanasi, and Union Minister Amit Shah will fight from Gandhinagar, said party's general secretary Vinod Tawde. Ravi Kishan and Smriti Irani have been fielded from Gorakhpur and Amethi respectively, again.

BJP on Friday described the UPA's 10 years as the «lost decade of corruption and cronyism» and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's «politics of performance» has made India the world's fastest-growing economy. The UPA government left behind a «devastated» economy and Prime Minister Modi «rebuilt» it in five years, senior BJP leader and Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said at a press conference at the party headquarters here. MLAs in Karnataka exercised their franchise for the four Rajya Sabha seats on Tuesday till 1 pm, Election Commission officials said. The Congress has 133 MLAs, excluding the Speaker, while the BJP and JD(S) have 66 and 19 legislators respectively, in the 223-member House. Others account for four. However, one Congress MLA died on Sunday. On Tuesday, voting began at 9 am and will go on till 4 pm. The counting will start from 5 pm. The MLAs will exercise their voting rights using an open ballot system. They have to display their voting preference to the nominated polling agents. The Rajya Sabha seats fell vacant following the retirement of four members — Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar (BJP) and Congress's G C Chandrashekhar, Syed Naseer Hussain and L Hanumanthaiah.

Paytm Payments Bank has drawn the attention of fintech firms to the importance of complying with laws, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said. The minister stressed that regulatory compliance cannot be «optional» for companies, rather it is an aspect every entrepreneur must pay full attention to. In an interview to PTI, Chandrasekhar — the minister of state for electronics and IT — said the issue of Paytm Payments Bank is a case where a hard-charging and aggressive entrepreneur has failed to realise the need for regulatory compliance, and that no company can get away if it is non-compliant with law. Any company, be it from India or abroad, big or small, has to abide by the law of the land, the Minister asserted amid the unfolding Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) crisis.
