Asian markets track Wall Street record to extend global rally
Asian markets rose Friday to build on the latest global rally after a jumbo US interest rate cut this week, while the yen reversed earlier gains after the Bank of Japan decided against another hike. Traders have been put in a bullish mood by the Federal Reserve's decision to go big on its first reduction since the start of the Covid pandemic — opting for 50 basis points instead of 25 — and pledging more would come.

Why does Shohei Ohtani's 50-50 feat resonate so much in baseball?
Major League Baseball over the past century-and-a-half, none had a season with 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases — until now. Shohei Ohtani became the first 50-50 player on Thursday when the Los Angeles Dodgers star hit his 50th and 51st home runs and stole his 50th and 51st bases. Home runs and steals are among the more popular baseball records — if not the most revered in the history of the game — whether it be most home runs (73) in a season or the modern-day mark for most stolen bases (130) in a season. So when one player reaches the once-unthinkable half-century mark in both, it stands out.

U.S. elections: Fox News poll shows Kamala Harris ahead of Trump by 2 percentage points
Donald Trump by two percentage points, according to a recent nationwide poll conducted by Fox News. According to the survey, registered voters' opinions of the presidential candidates for 2024 have changed by three points since August. Trump was ahead by one point the previous month, but Harris is currently ahead by two points. In the Fox survey, the Democratic candidate had a 50% favorability rating while her opponent had 48% of the vote. 72% of Trump's followers say they approve of his record and policies. Nearly 20% of respondents claim to simply dislike Harris. Supporters of Harris are somewhat more divided: 42% of them support her because they appreciate her record and policies, 24% because they think she is a good person, and 33% because they detest Trump. The latest survey is the result of several incidents that might have given Harris more backing. August saw the Democratic National Convention. Kennedy's name was taken off of several ballots around the nation when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential contest and announced his support for Donald Trump. Politicians like former Representative Liz Cheney and Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, as well as celebrities like Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, have endorsed Harris. There seems to have been another attempt on Trump's life. Based on Fox polls, the largest shifts are coming from independent and Hispanic voters. Independent voters preferred Trump by eight points in August. Harris is currently in the lead by 12 points.

Voters split on whether Kamala Harris or Donald Trump would do a better job on the economy: AP-NORC poll
Kamala Harris nor Donald Trump has a decisive edge with the public on the economy, turning an issue that was once a clear strength for Trump into the equivalent of a political jump ball. About 4 in 10 registered voters say Republican Trump would do a better job handling the economy, while a similar number say that about the Democratic vice president, according to a new poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. About 1 in 10 voters don't trust either candidate, and a similar share has equal faith in them. The finding is a warning sign for Trump, who has tried to link Harris to President Joe Biden's economic track record. The new poll suggests that Harris may be escaping some of the president's baggage on the issue, undercutting what was previously one of Trump's major advantages.

Liftoff at Musk's SpaceX base was fueled by wheeling-dealing Texas politicians
SpaceX, billionaire Elon Musk's space venture, to buy two brick ranch houses she owns near the mouth of the Rio Grande. The properties are nestled amid the South Texas scrubland where SpaceX established an ever-expanding facility for the production and launch of its rockets. For decades, they've served as a home for the former social worker and a source of retirement income from beachgoers who once rented one of the houses, a short walk from the Gulf of Mexico. SpaceX's breakneck development, and fast-changing local regulations that facilitated it, disrupted her quiet retirement and halted much of the beach traffic. It also raised her property taxes, inflated by soaring values all around her as neighbors sold land to SpaceX.

«Maybe near-term resistance at 25,700, 25,800 cannot be ruled out, but buy the dip should be the strategy. Eventually we expect Nifty to head towards 26,200 in the coming weeks.
