Guwahati: In yet another watershed moment in the logistics sector of Assam, the Inland Waterways Authority of India, the nodal agency of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, successfully felicitated one huge Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC), a Vacuum Tower, headed towards Numaligarh Refinery.
The ODC was ferried by MV Tidal Waves IV vessel from Kolkata via Indo Bangladesh Protocol Route (IBPR) and is headed to NRL for its expansion project.
Prabin Bora, Director (I/c), Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), said, “This is a very positive development in the logistics sector of Assam. This ODC is the result of the MoU signed between NRL and IWAI earlier.”
NRL is increasing its capacity from 3 to 9 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum) with an investment of Rs 28,000 Crore.
Assam based Numaligarh Refinery Limited announced it has made significant progress in the ongoing mega Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project with a train comprising of the 6 MMTPA(million metric tonnes per annum) Refinery, the 1,635 KM Paradip Numaligarh Crude Oil Pipeline and Crude Oil Import Terminal at Paradip which is expected to be completed by December 2025.
