Telangana, including Kamareddy, Hyderabad, Nirmal, Siddipet, Nagarkurnool, and Medchal-Malkajgiri, experienced heavy rainfall for the fourth straight day on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, forecasting thunderstorms in several districts, including Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri.
The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Gandhari, Kamareddy district, at 97.3 mm. Hyderabad also saw moderate rainfall, with Patigadda receiving the highest at 40 mm. Commuters in Hyderabad were seen navigating rain-soaked roads as the city witnessed a fresh spell of rain on Tuesday morning.
Despite the rainfall, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Hyderabad remained satisfactory across most parts of the city. As of Tuesday morning, the AQI readings were 65 in Sanathnagar, 79 in Ramachandrapuram, 77 in ECIL Kapra, and 75 in IITH Kandi.
The IMD had earlier issued a thunderstorm alert for 17 districts in Telangana on Monday. The sudden downpour in Hyderabad on Sunday caught many people off guard, particularly those out for weekend activities. However, the rain brought much-needed relief from the heat that had gripped the city earlier in the week.
