Turkey’s president said his government won’t hesitate to act against Kurdish-led groups in northern Syria if they proceed with plans to hold local elections. It accuses the groups of having links to outlawed Kurdish militants in Turkey. The SDF said drone strikes hit its positions eight times as well as civilian homes and vehicles in and near the northern city of Qamishli.

Deadly strikes hit Gaza as war enters tenth month
Israel carried out deadly air strikes in the Gaza Strip as the war entered its tenth month on Sunday, with fighting raging across the Palestinian territory and fresh diplomatic efforts under way to halt the violence. Israel has said it will send a delegation in the coming days to continue truce talks with Qatari mediators that began recently in Doha. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesman said «gaps» remained with Hamas on how to secure a ceasefire and hostage release deal.

Israel finds the body of a teen whose disappearance sparked a deadly settler attack in the West Bank
West Bank — Israel's army said Saturday the body of a missing Israeli teen was found in the West Bank after he was killed in a «terrorist attack,» as violence escalated across the Israeli-occupied territory where tensions have simmered for months. The disappearance of 14-year-old Binyamin Achimair sparked attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, one Palestinian was killed and 25 others were wounded in the attack on al-Mughayyir village, Palestinian health officials said. On Saturday, Israeli troops delayed for several hours the ambulance carrying the 26-year-old man's body for burial, witnesses said. Dozens of Israeli settlers returned to the village's outskirts on Saturday, burning 12 homes and several cars. The Palestinian Health Ministry said three people from the village were injured, one critically. Border police fired tear gas toward villagers who gathered, trying to disperse them.

Israel besieges two more Gaza hospitals, demands evacuations, Palestinians say
Israeli forces besieged two more Gaza hospitals on Sunday, pinning down medical teams under heavy gunfire, the Palestinian Red Crescent said, and Israel said it had captured 480 militants in continued clashes at Gaza's main Al Shifa hospital. Israeli forces say hospitals in the Palestinian enclave where war has been raging for over five months have frequently been used as strongholds of Hamas militants harbouring bases and weapons. Hames and medical staff deny this. The Palestinian Red Crescent said one of its staff was killed when Israeli tanks suddenly pushed back into areas around Al-Amal and Nasser hospitals in the southern city of Khan Younis, amid heavy bombardment and gunfire.

Death toll from Libya floods rises to 11,300 in Derna: UN
Libya's eastern city of Derna has climbed to 11,300, the United Nations said in an update on Saturday, citing the Libyan Red Crescent. Another 10,100 people are still missing in the devastated city, the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said, using Red Crescent figures. Elsewhere in eastern Libya outside Derna, the flooding took an additional 170 lives, the update said. «These figures are expected to rise as search-and-rescue crews work tirelessly to find survivors,» the UN update said. Nearly a week after Storm Daniel hit northeastern Libya, «the humanitarian situation remains particularly grim in Derna,» the update said. Severe drinking water problems have gripped the city, and at least 55 children were poisoned from drinking polluted water, it said.
