Supreme Court on Monday rejected the West Bengal government plea as it refused to interfere with Calcutta High Court order directing a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the incidents of violence that took place in the state during Ram Navami celebration. During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta apprised the top court that out of six FIR registered in the matter two FIR deal with explosive substances act.

Allahabad High Court order shall not be enforced till July 26. In the meantime, SC directed the mosque committee to move to Allahabad High Court. Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will commence final hearing of a clutch of petitions challenging abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution — which granted special status to Jammu & Kashmir — on a daily basis from August 2. Supreme Court on Monday said it will examine the insurance regulator's appeal challenging the Securities Appellate Tribunal's decision to stay its order directing Sahara India Life Insurance Company to transfer its life insurance business to SBI Life Insurance Company. The bench led by Justice Abhay S Oka while seeking a response from Sahara India Life said, «Some solution has to be found to protect the interest of 3,300 people who have filed their claims.» It also asked Sahara to submit details of the mechanism to find a solution and posted the matter for further hearing on July 10.
