markets Provident Digital Action President 2020 "After disengagement, we should look at de-escalation...": Former Foreign Secy Harsh Shringla lauds India-China agreement on patrolling
Shringla has said that agreement between India and China on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh is likely to lead to de-escalation and provides an opening for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping to meet on the sidelines of BRICS Summit in Russia this week. Shringla, who was Foreign Secretary when actions of Chinese army led to a standoff along LAC in eastern Ladakh in May 2020, told that a fairly firm hand in the negotiations has brought about a satisfactory conclusion. «I think the agreement gives us a way to move forward, provides an opening for leaders to meet, and possibly even take this into de-escalation — the thinning out of troops on the frontline. It will be recalled that China had massed troops at the time when hostilities began, and those troops are still there. So I think after disengagement, we should look at de-escalation,» Shringla told ANI.

markets Election Experts 2020 Schools Courts Republicans and Democrats are both preparing for long legal battles over the 2024 election results
Donald Trump, who still refuses to accept that he lost the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden, says he wants a presidential victory Nov. 5 to be so overwhelming that the results are «too big to rig.» «We want a landslide,» he recently told supporters in Georgia. «We can't let anything happen.» No matter the margins, Republicans and Democrats are preparing for a potentially lengthy battle over the results once they come in. Dozens of lawsuits that could set the stage for challenges after the votes are counted are already playing out in courts across the country. Most have been filed by Republicans and their allies. Many of the cases involve challenges to mail-in balloting, ballots from overseas voters and claims of voting by people who are not U.S citizens.

Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. Even if he does oversee a soft landing for the US economy, Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell will not deserve a place in the annals of history as the greatest central banker of all time. Not because bringing down inflation without causing a recession is as much a matter of luck as of skill—and economists will spend years debating how much of each Powell had—but because the mistakes the Fed made in 2021 will haunt the US economy for years to come.
