The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said the lower court judge who dismissed the proposed class action should have assessed whether reasonable Chrome users consented to letting Google collect their data when they browsed online. Tuesday's 3-0 decision followed Google's agreement last year to destroy billions of records to settle a lawsuit claiming the Alphabet unit tracked people who thought they were browsing privately, including in Chrome's «Incognito» mode.

UPS Action wellness Diversity reports recommendations rights Issue of lateral entry into civil services has always been a knotty one
constitutional mandates was also a concern that weighed heavily on the Second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) report of 2005 and is reflected in its 10th report titled — 'Refurbishing of Personnel Administration & Scaling New Heights'. The report reads how (senior executive system) SES — a western model — that draws the best talent from both the public and the private sector has its advantages; it may also have 'disadvantages specific to India'. Socio-cultural diversity apart, the report points to «the possible adverse impact of such recruitment (if done on a large scale) on the constitutional mandate for affirmative action as a result of the creation of a new recruitment channel at a senior level» besides conflict-of-interest concerns, lack of sufficient talent in the private sector and operational difficulties. Nevertheless, the Second ARC did recommend lateral entry from both — other services as well as private sector — preferably at no less than the additional secretary level for areas of expertise.

UPS Provident Platform Action guidelines Traffic Crackdown on pesky telemarketers: TRAI asks telcos to curb misuse of message headers, content templates
messaging services and protect consumers from fraudulent practices. Continuing its offensive against unsolicited spam calls and messages, TRAI made it clear that from September 1, 2024, all access service providers will be prohibited from transmitting messages containing URLs, OTT links, or call back numbers which are not 'whitelisted' (authorised) by the senders. To enhance message traceability, TRAI has mandated that the trail of all messages from senders to recipients must be traceable from November 1, 2024. Any message with an undefined or mismatched telemarketer chain will be rejected. The latest move assumes significance as TRAI has cracked the whip on unauthorised telemarketers indulging in promotional calls and messages to telecom subscribers. Last week, TRAI directed telcos to disconnect all telecom resources of unregistered telemarketers found making spam calls, and to blacklist them for up to two years.
