Union home ministry has revoked the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of prominent think tank Indian Social Institute (ISI), citing alleged violation of rules, said officials. The institute, set up in 1951, critically analysed the National Education Policy 2020 in its journal, Social Action, published in 2023. Social Action is listed in the University Grants Commission Consortium for Academic Research and Ethics as an approved social science journal, as per ISI. When contacted, a representative from ISI declined to comment. Karnataka Congress government will be paying Rs 15 lakhs as compensation to the family of a man killed by an elephant from the state in AICC leader Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha constituency of Wayanad in Kerala. Gandhi, who broke away from his scheduled Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as a part of his Lok Sabha campaign to visit the victim's family on Saturday, had asked the Karnataka government to compensate the family on humanitarian grounds. The Karnataka government’s move comes at a time when Lok Sabha elections are a few months away, with the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala being a part of the Congress’ INDIA alliance for the Parliament polls, but a rival at the regional level. In a letter to Gandhi, Karnataka forest minister Eshwar Khandre said that his department plans to host a meeting with forest departments of Kerala and TamilNadu to come up with an action plan for avoiding man-animal conflicts. Manipur government Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi on Sunday in an order directed all government employees to attend offices and in case of any violation of the orders, the person concerned without any exception shall be booked and prosecuted under relevant provision of law of land for the time being in force.

Vijay Kirloskar, the founding director and a large shareholder of Bengaluru-based engineering services company TD Power Systems (TDPS), has lodged a complaint with the stock exchanges, accusing the company of omitting and suppressing material facts in the financial results for the quarter ending December 2023. In a letter dated February 3, 2024, Vijay Kirloskar, who also serves as the chairman of Bengaluru-based Kirloskar Electric Company, urged the bourses to acknowledge that the company's disclosure on February 1, 2024, stating there is no action initiated by Kirloskar against TDPS is «entirely factually incorrect, a misstatement and a deliberate suppression of vital information» intended to mislead TDPS shareholders.
