Procurement of services through government buying portal GeM touched Rs 1.82 lakh crore as of February 22, an official statement said on Friday. It was Rs 8,500 crore in 2020-21, the commerce ministry said. Supreme Court on Monday deferred post Diwali vacation hearing on pleas of NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha and its HR head Amit Chakravarty against their arrest under anti-terror law UAPA. A bench of Justices BR Gavai Prashant Kumar Mishra told senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for both the accused, that it will take up the pleas after the vacation. Bank of India (RBI) has expanded the basket of products offered through its Retail Direct Portal by allowing individual investors to subscribe to Floating Rate Savings Bonds (FRBs), 2020 (Taxable). "In its endeavour to expand the basket of products offered through the Retail Direct Portal, Reserve Bank of India, in consultation with the Government of India, has enabled subscription to Floating Rate Savings Bonds, 2020 (Taxable) – FRSB 2020 (T)," the central bank said in a statement. Earlier, retail investors were allowed to invest in central government securities, treasury bills, state government securities, and sovereign gold bonds through the Retail Direct portal.

NEW DELHI : The government plans to earmark ₹30,000 crore to expand the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) portal into a comprehensive platform that will extend insurance coverage beyond crops to include assets such as ponds, tractors, livestock, and palm trees, two officials said. This initiative will be driven by the AIDE app, launched in July, to ensure door-to-door enrolment, making crop insurance more accessible and convenient for farmers. Through this app, insurance intermediaries will not only enrol farmers for crop insurance, but also extend coverage to 40 million farmers for non-subsidized schemes.
