Defence has recently signed a contract with Advanced Weapon Equipment India Ltd. The SRCGs' advanced features, including stabilisation and remote control, ensure precise targeting, enhancing operational efficiency and safety for naval personnel. Boost to "Aatmanirbharta in Defence": This procurement aligns with the government's vision of "Aatmanirbharta in Defence," emphasizing self-reliance in defence production. With an Indigenous Content (IC) of over 85%, this contract signifies a major milestone in promoting indigenous defence manufacturing. Moreover, this initiative is expected to create opportunities for over 125 Indian vendors and Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) over the next five years, stimulating the domestic defence industry.

green energy initiatives, Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) for setting up a green hydrogen plant in the premises of Cochin Airport. This collaborative effort will result in the world's first green hydrogen plant and fueling station located within an airport setting, CIAL said in a statement on Wednesday. Green hydrogen, produced from water using renewable energy sources, is recognized as a future fuel and aligns with zero-carbon energy strategies, it said. The agreement exchange ceremony for the green hydrogen plant was held at Legislative Complex, Thiruvananthapuram in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who is also the chairman of CIAL, the statement said. «As pioneers in sustainable aviation, CIAL is happy to start a groundbreaking journey with BPCL towards establishing the country's first green hydrogen plant in an airport,» CIAL Managing Director, S Suhas IAS is quoted as having said in the statement. He also said that this strategic collaboration underscores CIAL's commitment to green energy and propels closer towards a zero-carbon future in the aviation landscape.

telecom gear company HFCL has bagged an order worth Rs 179 crore from state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited to supply 4G and 5G network equipment, the company said on Tuesday. Out of the total advance purchase order worth Rs 179 crore, the company has secured an order worth Rs 141 crore comprising Rs 119 crore in capital expenditure and Rs 22 crore for annual maintenance contract. «HFCL has secured a purchase order worth Rs 141 crore(Capex Rs 119 crore and AMC Rs 22 crore) from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) out of the advance purchase order worth Rs 179 crore issued to the company,» HFCL said in a statement. Under this order, HFCL will provide product and services to BSNL crucial for supporting 4G and 5G network requirements. The scope under this order encompasses initial planning, on-site surveys, supply installation, testing, commissioning, operations and annual maintenance of microwave links.

X-ray polarimetry mission XPoSat launched on January one, has commenced its scientific observations. A pulse profile of the Crab pulsar is generated from the observations carried out by POLIX during January 15-18, the ISRO said on Tuesday. The Crab pulsar, a pulsating star, resides near the centre of the Crab Nebula and spins about its axis approximately 30 times per second. The POLIX payload was activated in two stages by January 10, and initial scan observations were conducted around the Crab pulsar, the intended first target. The data plotted was collected during January 15-18, and thoroughly reviewed for confirmation. The data aligns with expectations, the space agency said. «This initial observation is a significant milestone for POLIX, showcasing its functionality and readiness for investigating pulsars, black holes, and other astronomical sources,» ISRO said.
