Himachal Pradesh, which has been battered by rains over the last few days, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Tuesday, issued «red» and «orange» alerts for several districts of the hill-state for the next 24 hours. «A red alert has been issued for very heavy rainfall in Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu, Mandi, Kinnaur, and Lahaul for the next 24 hours. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued in Una, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Chamba.

On the eve of the NATO Summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky exuded confidence that the war-torn country will become part of the alliance. In a press statement on Monday night, Zelensky said, "We are still working on the wording, that is, on the specific words of such confirmation, but we already understand the fact that Ukraine will be in the alliance...And we are working to make the algorithm for gaining membership as clear and fast as possible". Supreme Court on Monday cautioned that the proceedings pertaining to the violence in Manipur should not be used as a platform to escalate tensions. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said this during the resumed hearing of a bunch of petitions pertaining to the ongoing violence in Manipur where clashes erupted on May 3 between various communities. Solicitor general Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Manipur government and Centre, described the prevailing situation as «constantly evolving».

Mohali, Patiala, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Panchkula and Ambala are some of the worst-hit districts in the two states.

DAKAR: At least 300 people traveling from Senegal to Spain in three boats are missing, a Spanish aid group said Monday, raising concern about their fate along one of the deadliest sea routes for migrants. Two boats departed June 23 from Mbour, a coastal city in central Senegal, carrying about 100 people, and a third left the southern town of Kafountine four days later with approximately 200 people, according to Helena Maleno Garzon, coordinator for the aid group Walking Borders, which is known as Caminando Fronteras in Spanish. There has been no contact with the boats since their departures, she said.
