While USIN was issued FCRA licence early this month, CNI's application was approved a few months earlier, said officials aware of the matter. The FCRA licence has been granted for five years to each of the NGOs. USIN Foundation has been granted licences for economic activities whereas CNI can carry out activities under six different heads such as religious, cultural, economic, educational and social, added officials. Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj is undertaking several measures, including the use of community radio, to spread awareness against the "Sarpanch Pati" system, the government informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The «Sarpanch Pati» system is a practice in which the husband of an elected woman sarpanch wields the actual power. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj SP Singh Baghel said various modes of information, education and communication activities, media engagement, conferences, seminars, training programmes, screening of public service awareness films, broadcasting of programmes through community radio were being done to spread awareness on issues such as the «Sarpanch Pati» system.

State Bank of India (SBI) on Saturday said it has launched a nation-wide drive to raise awareness about the importance of inoperative account activation. A savings or a current account is treated as inoperative if the customer has no transaction in the account for a period of over two years. Activation of these accounts requires Re-KYC. Necessity of regular transactions in the account and preventing categorization into in-operative was the key message, SBI said in a statement.

Adani stocks will be in focus on Friday after reports suggested Indian banks are reevaluating their exposure to the conglomerate. HDFC Securities on Thursday dismissed rumors circulating on social media suggesting that it is closing its franchisee business due to compliance issues. The brokerage firm clarified that its decision to pause new franchise partnerships, made earlier this year, was a strategic move to streamline operations and enhance service quality. In an official statement, HDFC Securities stated, “We are aware of inaccurate messages circulating on WhatsApp and social media suggesting we are closing our franchisee business due to compliance issues. We want to clarify that our decision to pause partnerships was a strategic move rather than being related to compliance concerns.”
