GRSE secures export order worth $54 mn from German co for commercial vessels
GRSE) Ltd on saturday signed an agreement with Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH and Co. KG, a Germany-based shipping company, for the construction and delivery of four multi-purpose cargo vessels. This contract, valued at around $54 million, is set to be completed within 33 months. The official statement from GRSE indicated that there is an option for building an additional four ships in the future. These vessels will each measure 120 meters in length and 17 meters in width, capable of carrying 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo.

Sri Lanka Navy arrests four Indian fishermen
Indian fishermen were arrested and their trawler seized early on Tuesday by the Sri Lanka Navy for allegedly poaching in the island nation's waters, taking the total number of such arrests to more than 180 this year. «In the latest incident of alleged poaching by Indians, one Indian trawler was seized and four fishermen were arrested early on Tuesday around the northern islet of Delft in the Jaffna peninsula,» Sri Lanka Navy said here. Including Tuesday's arrests, a total of 182 Indian fishermen have been arrested and 25 of their trawlers seized so far in 2024 for alleged illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters, the Navy said. The numbers are almost 75 per cent of the approximate 240-245 held similarly in 2023.

India to hold trials in Spain for P-75 India submarine project by June-end
Indian Navy is going to hold trials in Spain to test the critical equipment for its Project 75 India to get six advanced submarines by the end of this month, Spanish firm Navantia said. In an exclusive interaction with ANI, Spanish shipyard Navantia's Chairman Ricardo Dominguez Garcia-Baquero said both the Spanish government and the Spanish Navy are very keen for the P75(I) project to progress and are willing to support in all possible ways. «This includes expeditious export clearance, signing an umbrella agreement with Indian government etc., like in the case of the recent Airbus deal (for supplying C-295 transport aircraft) with an Indian Company (Tata),» he said in an email reply.
