Axis Bank is working on augmenting small-ticket loans, crop loans to small and marginal farmers and microfinance business loans for women borrowers from low-income households during the year, managing director and CEO Amitabh Chaudhry said on Friday. Ujjivan Small Finance Bank on Friday reported a modest 11% rise in net profit at Rs 328 crore for the quarter to September 30, even as its interest income and earnings from non-core operations helped pre-provisioning operating profit rise 26%. The net interest margin for the quarter stood at 8.8%, down 102 basis points year-on-year, due to the rise in cost of funds. Shriram Finance's net profit increased 13% year-on-year to ₹1,751 crore in the quarter ended September driven by strong demand for vehicle loans. Besides, net interest margin(NIM) improved during the quarter as the company reduced the excess liquidity on its books. Commercial vehicle loan disbursements increased 14%, construction equipment 22%, and micro medium and small enterprises (MSMEs) increased 30% year-on-year.

Indian Bank's net profit increased 62% year-on-year riding on retail loan growth and a fall in provisions even as other income growth was tepid due to a fall in foreign exchange fees. Net profit increased to ₹1,988 crore in September 2023 from ₹1,225 crore a year ago. Total advances increased 12% to ₹4.92 lakh crore in September mainly due to a 14% increase in retail loans and a 16% growth in agriculture advances.

The rift between the two was triggered three years ago after Lone Star alleged that Rajiv Rattan had misused money belonging to the company.
