Major blue-chip crypto markets are mixed on Monday, with Bitcoin (BTC) dipping back into the mid-$36,000s and Ether (ETH) mounting a challenge of the $2,100 level once again, while most other major altcoins also pull back ahead of the release of key US  inflation and retail sales figures later in the week.

Major blue-chip crypto markets are mixed on Monday, with Bitcoin (BTC) dipping back into the mid-$36,000s and Ether (ETH) mounting a challenge of the $2,100 level once again, while most other major altcoins also pull back ahead of the release of key US  inflation and retail sales figures later in the week.

After briefly dipping below the $37,000 level late on Saturday, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) has recovered back into the low $37,000s, where it continues to trade around 2% lower versus the 18-month highs it hit earlier in the week near $38,000.

The Bitcoin (BTC) bulls are taking a breather on Saturday, with the cryptocurrency moving sideways just below the yearly highs it printed earlier this year near $38,000, with BTC last changing hands for around $37,150.

A near 8% surge in the price of Bitcoin (BTC) in the past seven days has seen its market capitalization jump by more than $50 billion to above $700 billion for the first time in seventeen months.

Thursday, November 9, 2023 – The Bitcoin price has hit $37,000, making good on all the losses suffered since TerraUSD imploded 18 months ago, but in-the-know traders think Bitcoin ETF Token ($BTCETF) is a Bitcoin alternative with greater potential.

Trading firm QCP Capital does not expect the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to approve a spot Bitcoin ( BTC) ETF until 2024.

XRP (-5%), Dogecoin (-2.8%), and Toncoin (-7%) were trading in the red, while Ethereum (9.7%), Solana (5.5%), Polygon (3.6%), Cardano, and BNB were trading in the green. Meanwhile, the global cryptocurrency market cap increased by 1.8% to around $1.4 trillion in the last 24 hours. At the same time, the market cap of Ethereum, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency, surged to $253 billion. On Friday, Ethereum experienced a significant surge, surpassing the $2,000 resistance level with a more than 10% increase. This growth was driven after the asset management giant BlackRock registered to create an Ethereum trust, a potential first step toward asking regulators to approve an exchange-traded fund tied to ether, the second-largest digital token. BlackRock registered the iShares Ethereum Trust as a Delaware statutory trust on Thursday. Nasdaq also filed a proposal on Thursday to list and trade shares of the trust.

The head of Dunamu, operator of South Korea’s market-leading Upbit crypto exchange, has been found not guilty of manipulating platform data.
