The 2020 model was the most stolen.In second place is the Dodge RAM 1500 Series with 2,600 thefts and the 2022 model most stolen, then in third is the Ford F150 Series, followed by the Lexus RX Series and the Toyota Highlander.Completing the list are the Honda Civic, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover Range Rover, Chevrolet/GMC Silverado/Sierra 1500 Series, and the Jeep Wrangler.Bryan Gast, vice-president of investigational services at Équité, told Global News on Wednesday that the car models that made the top 10 list are the ones that are most in demand overseas — where the stolen vehicles are often shipped to and sold for a profit.Nine of the top 10 models are from 2019 and newer in order for criminals to maximize their profits, Équité said in a statement Tuesday.“Right now what’s driving the top 10 is demand,” Gast said.

General Motors and Jeep maker Stellantis are meeting with United Auto Workers bargainers to see if they can reach a contract agreement that mirrors a deal signed with crosstown rival Ford

General Motors have jointly announced the discontinuation of their partnership aimed at producing affordable electric vehicles from 2027, AFP reported. The decision comes after extensive studies and analysis, the joint statement said. However, no specific reason was provided.

Honda and US giant General Motors said Thursday they were scrapping a tie-up that was aimed at producing «affordable» electric vehicles from 2027. «After extensive studies and analysis, we have come to a mutual decision to discontinue the program,» the firms said in a joint statement. No reason was given, but automakers are reportedly slowing expansion plans in EVs because of cooling demand, particularly in China. GM said this week that it was «moderating the acceleration of EV production in North America to protect our pricing, adjust to slower near-term growth in demand, and implement engineering efficiency and other improvements». GM and other US automakers have also been hit by a lengthy strike by factory workers in the United States. Japanese automakers have lost market share in key markets in recent years due in part to a slow rollout of EV's, having long focused on hybrid vehicles instead. The tie-up announced in 2022 aimed to develop electric cars cheaper than the US firm's planned $30,000 Chevrolet Equinox. Honda added that it still hoped to achieve 100 percent electrified vehicle sales by 2040. Honda and GM are still working together in other areas, including a recently announced plan to launch driverless taxis in Tokyo in 2026.

Back in 2001, seven years before Tesla introduced its electric-powered Roadster and a dozen years before the more affordable Chevrolet Spark EV went on sale, lawmakers in Oregon recognized that the adoption of EVs and hybrids would eventually mean less revenue from the state’s gas tax, which would mean less money to pay for roads and bridges. So they formed a committee to study the problem. After considering a tire tax, a battery tax and numerous other options, the committee concluded that Oregonians should be charged based on how many miles they drive.

General Motors said Tuesday it was delaying the conversion of a plant to produce electric vehicle (EV) trucks, citing changes in demand as a factor. The company said in a statement that it would "retime the conversion" of its Orion plant in Michigan by a year to "late 2025." The goal of the move was "to better manage capital investment while aligning with evolving EV demand," according to the statement.
