Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan on Saturday held extensive talks with Maldives' Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, focusing on a reset of military ties that came under severe strain after President Mohamed Muizzu assumed office in November last. The talks between the two top military officials came a day after India and the Maldives held the fifth round of defence dialogue which decided to expedite implementation of the ongoing defence projects. It is understood that cooperation in the maritime security domain dominated the discussions.

Ukraine destroys scores of Russian drones as it continues to face new wave of long-range attacks
Ukraine Saturday as the country continues to face increased long-range bombardment from invading Russian forces. The Ukrainian Air Force said that 67 drones were launched over the country overnight, with air defences active in 11 regions across the country, including in the capital, Kyiv. Fifty-eight drones were shot down, with three more destroyed by electronic weapons systems, it said. Debris from one drone was photographed on the street outside Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. Ukraine's parliamentary press service confirmed that drone fragments had been found but said there were no casualties and no damage to the parliament building. The bombardment follows a week of increased long-range attacks across Ukraine, including a missile strike on a Ukrainian military academy and hospital Tuesday in the city of Poltava that killed 55 people and wounded 328 more.

In a similar incident, Gowri, a 21-year-old student, booked an auto to a mall in Rajajinagar. “The driver took a long route, claiming there was traffic on the app-suggested way. He demanded more money and refused to leave until I paid double the fare,” she shared. Despite filing a complaint with the app, no action was taken.

According to a statement, the proposal, aimed at addressing grievances and upholding human rights within the prison system, has been submitted to the lieutenant governor for approval. «Unnatural custodial deaths, as defined by the policy, may occur due to incidents such as quarrels between inmates, mistreatment or torture by prison staff, or negligence by medical officers,» the statement said. However, the compensation will not apply in cases of death by suicide, escape attempts, natural causes or disasters.

STT GDC to invest $3.2 billion in India to expand data centre capacity
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) on Friday announced an investment of $3.2 billion (Rs 26,000 crore) to expand its data centre capacity in India by 550 megawatts over the next five to six years. This will nearly triple the Singapore-headquartered data centre company’s IT load capacity to meet the demands of India's thriving digital economy, it said in a statement. STT GDC India, in which Tata Communications holds a minority stake, has 28 data centres across 10 cities, with a combined capacity of more than 318 megawatt of IT load. It has about 1,000 enterprise customers.
