₹7 lakh, wider tax slabs, and lower surcharges for the super rich. However, the last three budgets have not seen any new benefits or deductions under the old regime to reduce taxpayers' net tax liability or provide additional incentives for investments or certain expenses. AI regulation: People should be players, not pawns
Paul Graham of Y Combinator recently shared an anecdote that perfectly encapsulates the challenge of regulating artificial intelligence (AI). When he asked someone helping the British government with it what they would regulate, the response was a refreshingly honest, “I’m not sure yet." As Graham noted, this might be the most intelligent thing anyone has said about AI regulation thus far. AI creates a “pacing problem," first explained in Larry Downes’ book The Laws of Disruption.

Data users need clarity on numbers from the statistics ministry

An email sent to a group of ‘super users’ about methodological tweaks in inflation calculations for the month of January found its way to the press. Since the group of super users included leading investment banks and hedge funds, it raised suspicions about the agency sharing market-sensitive information with a closed group.

Open to probe, regulations will help doing business: Axis My India chief on alleged stock market manipulation through exit polls
exit polls allegedly being used for stock market manipulation, Axis My India's chief Pradeep Gupta has said he is open to facing all kinds of investigations and it would help do business in a much better way if the government frames specific regulations for pollsters. Opposition parties and several civil society groups have been asking for thorough investigations, including by capital markets regulator SEBI and a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), after the stock markets witnessed a massive rally when exit polls gave a huge majority to the BJP but fell sharply after the actual results showed the ruling party falling short of a clear majority on its own. In an interaction with PTI editors at the agency's headquarters here, Gupta said he has been demanding formulation of norms and regulations for pollsters since five years.
