Bangladesh interim leader Muhammad Yunus condemns 'heinous' attacks on minorities, calls on youth for protection
Muhammad Yunus condemned recent attacks on minority communities in the country, calling them «heinous,» and called on the youth to protect Hindu, Christian, and Buddhist families. Speaking at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, Yunus urged students to ensure the safety of minorities and not let their efforts be undermined. These remarks come following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, which led to at least 205 incidents of attacks on minority communities across 52 districts, according to the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council and the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad. Thousands of Bangladeshi Hindus are attempting to flee to neighboring India to escape the violence. Yunus, addressing students who are leading protests, assured them that many were watching their efforts and encouraged persistence in their cause. «There are many standing by to make your efforts futile. Don't fail this time,» Yunus stated during his speech.

Kolkata doctor murder: IMA demands 48-hour deadline for fair probe; warns of nationwide protests
Indian Medical Association (IMA) has issued an ultimatum following the shocking rape and murder of a second-year postgraduate student at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The IMA demands immediate action, including an impartial investigation, the arrest and punishment of the culprits, and measures to enhance the safety of doctors, especially women, in the workplace. The association has given authorities a 48-hour deadline to act, threatening nationwide protests if their demands are not met. Preliminary autopsy reports revealed that the woman doctor had been sexually abused before being killed. Her body was discovered inside a seminar hall on the third floor of the campus. The incident has sparked outrage within the medical community, with calls for urgent action to ensure the safety and security of doctors. In a press release, the IMA stated, «We demand that the authorities act with precision and in time of 48 hours failing which IMA will be constrained to initiate nation wide action. A fair, transparent and time sensitive criminal investigation is in order. An ultimatum of two days is given to arrest culprits otherwise IMA will take nation wide protests.»

UP man chokes minor sister on busy road in Meerut, locals record videos until she dies
Meerut, a 26-year-old man allegedly strangled his 17-year-old sister to death in full public view, while onlookers stood by recording videos instead of intervening. The horrifying crime took place in Nangla Shekhu village, located in the Incholi area, and has left the community in shock. The police reported that the accused, identified as Mohd Haseen, was reportedly enraged by his sister's persistent desire to marry a man from a different religion. SP (Meerut Rural) Kamlesh Bahadur confirmed the incident, stating, «The crime occurred on Wednesday following a heated argument between the siblings at home. We've arrested the accused, and an FIR has been filed under IPC section 302 (murder) and other relevant sections, based on a complaint from their mother.» SHO (Incholi), Yogendra Singh, provided further details, explaining that the victim had been in a relationship with a man from another community, which had deeply displeased her family. Earlier in March, she had eloped with her boyfriend, leading her family to file a complaint, alleging that she had been kidnapped. The police managed to locate the couple, and the boyfriend was subsequently jailed on charges of abduction, with a charge sheet later submitted to the court.
