North Korea closes multiple embassies around the world
North Korea is poised to close as many as a dozen embassies including in Spain, Hong Kong, and multiple countries in Africa, according to media reports and analysts, in a move that could see nearly 25 percent of Pyongyang's missions close worldwide. North Korea's recent closing of its diplomatic missions was a sign that the reclusive country is struggling to make money overseas because of international sanctions, South Korea's unification ministry said on Tuesday. On Monday, North Korean state media outlet KCNA said the country's ambassadors paid «farewell» visits to Angolan and Ugandan leaders last week, and local media in both African countries reported the shutdown of the North's embassies there. Both Angola and Uganda have forged friendly ties with North Korea since the 1970s, maintaining military cooperation and providing rare sources of foreign currency such as statue-building projects. The embassy closings set the stage for what could be «one of the country's biggest foreign policy shakeups in decades», with implications for diplomatic engagement, humanitarian work in the isolated country, as well as the ability to generate illicit revenue, wrote Chad O'Carroll, founder of the North Korea-focused website NK Pro. More than a dozen missions may close, likely because of international sanctions, a trend of Pyongyang's disengaging globally and the probable weakening of the North Korean economy, he said in a report on Wednesday. Seoul's unification ministry, which handles inter-Korean affairs, said the pullout reflected the impact of international sanctions aimed at curbing funding for the North's nuclear and missile programs. «They appear to be withdrawing as their foreign currency earning business has stumbled

Rights of states 'trampled' under BJP regime at Centre, says Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday alleged that the rights of states are being crushed under the BJP-led regime at the Centre, and appealed to the people to back the opposition INDIA bloc in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to ensure real autonomy for states. In the third episode of his 'Speaking for India' podcast series, Stalin chose the theme of state autonomy and used his «voice for true cooperative federalism», targeting the BJP and the government helmed by it at the Centre. Stalin pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his earlier role as Gujarat Chief Minister, had often spoken backing the rights of states. «However, after he came to Delhi as Prime Minister, the very first sentence of the Constitution, 'India, that is Bharat, shall be a union of states', became a thing of dislike for him.» The Centre does not «allow» the states to even function within the Constitutional framework and it is not inclined to listening to the states either, Stalin claimed.

Health insurance, term plans in India gain popularity among NRIs
health insurance for themselves or their dependents in India. According to a PolicyBazaar report, among NRIs, those from Gulf nations like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait constitute the largest percentage of health insurance buyers, at 58%, followed by the USA/Canada (14%), the UK (8%), and Australia (6%). Think you check all the immigration boxes? Find out The appeal lies in the lower cost of health insurance in India compared to other countries, making it a viable choice for those residing abroad. Family floater health insurance plans are the preferred choice among NRIs, accounting for 40% of purchases. A significant portion of these policies (25%) is bought for parents or senior citizens residing in India. To maximize their health insurance benefits, NRIs opt for high-sum insured plans, especially crucial for severe illnesses or costly medical conditions. At least one-fourth of NRIs choose coverage of more than Rs 1 crore, while 34% opt for a sum insured between Rs 25 lacs to Rs 1 crore. Over half of the buyers opt for multi-year policies to take advantage of premium discounts. This not only locks in the premium for the chosen period but also guards against medical inflation or changes in premiums due to increasing age.
