White House says deals struck to cut prices of popular Medicare drugs that cost $50 billion yearly
older Americans will pay when they fill those prescriptions. White House officials said Wednesday night they expect U.S. taxpayers to save $6 billion on the new prices, while older Americans could save roughly $1.5 billion on their medications. Those projections, however, were based on dated estimates and the administration shared no details as to how they arrived at the figures. Nonetheless, the newly negotiated prices — still elusive to the public as of early Thursday morning — will impact the price of drugs used by millions of older Americans to help manage diabetes, blood cancers and prevent heart failure or blood clots.

How anti-dumping duty on Chinese EVs affects India
Chinese EVs and Indian container shortage have in common? In one word, everything. With the US imposing a 100% anti-dumping duty on Chinese electric vehicles from August 1 and several countries in Europe planning to follow suit in September and October, the Chinese EV industry has been on production overdrive to ship as many vehicles as possible before the duty deadline. This pile up of inventory has clogged an already stretched logistics network. Siddharth Jairaj, CEO, TVS SCS global forwarding solutions said, “Because of the anti-dumping duties, China has been shipping out huge numbers of electric vehicles since April and May to beat the duty deadlines. So global nodal ports like Singapore and Colombo and clogged.” As containers are being diverted to cater to “Chinese inventory, the port congestion is spreading and has now hit India too,” he added.

BITS alumnus justifies Cognizant's Rs 2.5 LPA salary to freshers: 'Quality is so bad'
Amidst the heated debate, Vatsal Sanghvi, founder of 1811 Labs, a Bengaluru-based startup focusing on GenAI SaaS products, stepped forward to defend Cognizant's position. He stated that the salary should be considered a «training stipend» rather than a full-fledged salary, citing concerns over the quality of fresh graduates entering the workforce. “The quality of freshers is often so bad that even Rs 20k per month is overspending. Most don’t know how to communicate professionally, can’t code properly, and don’t know how to behave in a professional environment,” Sanghvi shared on X (formerly Twitter). He emphasized that the market is open, and those who believe the compensation is inadequate are free to seek opportunities elsewhere. “It is an open market—don’t apply if you don’t think it’s fair. Unlike other gigs, there’s plenty of opportunity to grow if these individuals focus on building skill,” he added.
