Vi may diverge from rivals on 5G, likely to price it cheaper
Vodafone Idea (Vi) CEO Akshaya Moondra has signalled that the telco may keep its 5G base pricing lower than bigger rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel to attract customers as it will be a new entrant in the space. «A decision on 5G pricing will be taken closer to launch, but when you are just starting with a (5G) network which is not yet mature, one will have to look at pricing in that fashion,» Moondra said at Vi's fiscal first quarter earnings call Tuesday. He was responding to an analyst query on Vi's likely approach to 5G monetisation, and whether it is likely to emulate Jio and Airtel, who have both sharply hiked entry-level 5G pricing thresholds to boost average revenue per user (ARPU).

India to offer incentives for critical minerals extraction, govt source says
critical minerals industry. The funding illustrates the efforts India is making to get the critical mineral industry off the ground and cut the country's near-total reliance on imports of lithium and rare earths mineral that are key to energy transition technologies. So far, India's attempts to create a critical minerals mining industry have faltered. The country awarded development rights in June to a lithium block in Chhattisgarh state but a separate attempt to auction lithium blocks in Jammu and Kashmir found no takers because of low mineral concentration and high extraction costs.

Siemens in uncertain waters in India, but charts a global voyage
Siemens Ltd’s consolidated Ebitda for the quarter ended June was sharply below analysts’ estimates despite growing 22% year-on-year. Growth was aided by lower raw material cost and ‘other expenses’, but fell short of estimates due to a sharp drop in revenue growth. The Indian unit of Siemens AG, a German industrial technology conglomerate, seems to be facing headwinds in project execution and could see lower growth in the near-term.
