Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced to introduce a state government flagship programme for those trades, which do not come under the purview of the newly launched PM Vishwakarma scheme of the central government. Virtually attending the launch of the PM Vishwakarma scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from DK Convention Centre here, Khandu, in his brief address, said that the state flagship program will ensure that all local artisans, craftsmen and tradesmen left out from the newly launched central scheme too will get government support so that they are not left out from the benefits that will be available to their counterparts of included trades. Hailing the Vishwakarma scheme as a significant step towards empowering the artisans, who form the basic work force of the country, Khandu said crores of tradesmen across the country will benefit from it. “The Vishwakarma scheme intends to provide recognition and holistic support to the traditional artisans and craftsmen working with their hands and elementary tools, so as to improve the quality, scale and reach of their products and also to integrate them with MSME value chains,” he informed. India's ambitious project Cheetah on Sunday completed one year after the first batch of eight Namibian cheetahs was released in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park (KNP) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on September 17, 2022. Subsequently, twelve cheetahs from South Africa were also translocated and released in Kuno National Park in February 2023. These cheetahs represent a big feather in India's cap for restoring natural treasures. The entire project was implemented under the meticulous supervision of the expert team consisting of Government officials, Scientists, Wildlife Biologists and Veterinarians belonging to Namibia, South Africa and India, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change stated. Ladakh witnessed «unbelievable» changes «for the better» since the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Retd) B D Mishra has said, exuding confidence that it would be the most developed Union Territory in the country in the next couple of years. Mishra, who took over as Ladakh L-G in February, said his priorities include ensuring that the coming generations do not face water scarcity and creating adequate jobs for the locals, besides making Ladakh «corruption-free and delay-free». Last year, over 5.31 lakh tourists visited the Union Territory which has a population of around 2.75 lakh, he said. «I have been there (in Ladakh) for seven months now and there is a sea change in terms of development, in people's outlook, in the benefit (being extended) to the people and also to the comfort of living,» the Lt Governor told PTI-Video in an exclusive interview in Jammu recently. The local population has ambitions in agriculture, horticulture, pisciculture, sericulture, and animal husbandry sectors which are making progress, he said. Mishra said the people of Ladakh are coming forward in setting up startups while infrastructures such as roads, bridges, tunnels, helipads and airports are being developed at a rapid speed.
