Royal Canin, the French pet food maker, on Wednesday said it has opened Asia's second-largest fully operational packaging plant in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra with an investment of ₹100 crore. The new packaging center, which is Royal Canin’s first facility in India, will have automatic packing machines and associated utilities installed for conversion of bulk products into retail packs catering to Indian pet owners requirements. The company didn't rule out the possibility of exports from the facility in future. «India is a place where the pet food category is emerging, we believe it is going to continue to grow. The plant will help us localise and have a more flexible approach towards the market,» Cecile Coutens, global president of Royal Canin told ET.

Indian Railways is unable to assess the completion date of the country's first bullet train project because all work tenders have not been awarded yet. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is constructing the 508 km long corridor, said this in response to an application under the Right to Information Act. Madhya Pradesh-based Chandra Shekhar Gaur sought to know if the NHSRCL is in a position to give a final date for the completion of the whole project though an application under the RTI. Responding to the same, the NHSRCL said, «Completion date for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project (MAHSRP) can be assessed after award of all tenders/packages.»

pharmaceuticals exports increased 9.67 per cent year-on-year to USD 27.9 billion in 2023-24, even as the total exports dipped by 3 per cent in the last fiscal. According to the commerce ministry data, pharma exports in March grew by 12.73 per cent to USD 2.8 billion. In 2022-23, the exports stood at USD 25.4 billion. Hitachi Energy is looking to open more global capability centers in India to expand local operations, amid growing energy demand and a push to scale up renewable energy generation in the country. Zurich-based Hitachi Energy, which makes transformers and large-scale power transmitters, operates a GCC in the country, where high power demand has led to the government ramping up generation, including in renewable energy. «We are looking at Hyderabad for our GCC… and also looking at Pune.
