markets UPS BLOCK CEO Trade country rights NOT It’s hard to be in India and not be excited: Jefferies CEO Richard Handler
Adani Group stocks following Hindenburg Research’s scathing indictment was cutting against the grain — the cumulative value of the ports-to-power conglomerate’s stocks had nosedived more than $150 billion at one point — but GQG’s confidence capital at the nick of time helped soothe nerves while simultaneously raising eyebrows over the gumption of GQG’s founding chairman Rajiv Jain. Unknown to many, behind the scenes Jefferies was busy playing the match maker. Being the sole broker on India’s largest block trade (GQG’s $1.1 billion into Adani Power, as part of the larger $1.87 billion) thus became the breakout moment for Wall Street’s “challenger” investment bank Jefferies. When most other advisors were pulling back, Jefferies chose to pull out all stops for their client.

RBI) is said to have turned down a request from HDFC Bank to permit classification of securities worth more than ₹1 lakh crore issued by the erstwhile HDFC Ltd as infrastructure bonds. This would have given regulatory leeway to the country's largest private bank. «The RBI has communicated to HDFC Bank that there is a technical hurdle in giving the infrastructure tag to bonds issued by the former HDFC Ltd because those were issued by an NBFC (non-banking finance company) and norms for treatment of bonds are different for banks and NBFCs,» a person close to the development told ET.

Booking Remark Justice country Courts rights Investigations SC expresses concern over an accused in prison without trial
Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed its deep concern on keeping an accused in custody without trial on the pretext of filing successive charge sheets by probe agencies. A division bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna made these remarks, lamenting the Enforcement Directorate's practice of filing supplementary charge sheets in money laundering cases to defeat the accused's right of getting default bail. Justice Khanna verbally remarked that «this is just not done». The bench added that the probe agency ought to ensure commencement of the trial once it files a charge sheet. «How you conduct an investigation is your prerogative. But you cannot say that you will keep filing successive charge sheets and keep the accused in jail without trial,» justice Khanna verbally remarked on the plea of an accused booked by ED in a case of illicit mining. The bench noted that Prem Prakash, the accused, has been behind bars for the past 18 months.
