Recently a court in Imphal granted bail to senior editor Wangkhemcha Shamjai, who was arrested for publishing an alleged incendiary report recently in his paper, Kangleipakki Meira, a vernacular evening daily. Imphal police had arrested Shamjai, former president of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), an umbrella body of the scribes of the state.

A Division bench comprising justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Neena Bansal Krishna noted that Adani Power’s submissions that the department (revenue) has filed a review in the SC. “Accordingly, till then, direction given in paragraph 52 (directing the CBI to look into over invoicing allegations) shall not be applicable in case of Adani Power,” it said. A review petition filed by the Revenue department against dismissal of its appeal last year is pending before the apex court.

The November 18 last year notification was issued by the office of Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, under Section 30 (2) (a) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The petitions came up for hearing before a bench of Justices B R Gavai and Sandeep Mehta which issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government, Centre and others seeking their responses on the pleas.
