Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed chargesheet against accused Ranjit Kakoty before the Special CBI Court, Guwahati in another Dibrugarh Investment Scam case. The case involves fraud amounting to Rs 260 crore and affecting approximately 1.5 lakh investors. The CBI successfully completed its probe against accused Ranjit Kakoty within 90 days of his arrest, culminating in the filing of this chargesheet. During the investigation, CBI employed advanced forensic tools to identify the majority of the investors who were victims of the fraudulent scheme perpetrated by the accused through the online platform www.tradingfx.live. The accused, Ranjit Kakoty, and his co-conspirators deceived investors through misleading plan documents, false promises, and other fraudulent practices, subsequently misappropriating their hard-earned money for personal enrichment.

O Panneerselvam, the Supreme Court on Friday stayed an order of the Madras High Court restoring a disproportionate assets (DA) case against him and his family members. A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and S V N Bhatti issued notice to the Tamil Nadu police and others on a plea filed by Panneerselvam. «In the present matter concerned, the challenge is to the impugned order of single judge of the High Court judicature at Madras exercising powers of suo motu criminal revision, under Section 397 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Code, 1973. Issue notice,» the bench directed.

Fallon Guliwala (40), the wife of actor-turned-politician Ajaz Khan, over a month after his staff member was apprehended for ordering 100 grams of mephedrone (MDMA) through a courier. Guliwala, a foreign national, was detained following a raid by the agency at her home in Jogeshwari on Wednesday, where various drugs were seized. Her name surfaced in the ongoing drug smuggling investigation, which began on October 8 when the agency arrested Ajaz’s peon, Suraj Gaud. The drugs, meant for delivery to Ajaz's office at B-207, Oberoi Chambers, Veera Desai Industrial Estate in Andheri, were linked to the case. Gaud was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and, during questioning, claimed that although the parcel was addressed to him, it was regularly ordered by Ajaz’s nephew, Farhan. Officials then raided Ajaz Khan's residence in Jogeshwari on Wednesday and Thursday, where the house was registered in the name of Fallon Guliwala. During her interrogation, Guliwala confirmed that Farhan was Ajaz's nephew and the owner of Ek Number Production house. A search of her flat led to the discovery of drugs, including 136 grams of charas, 33 grams of MDMA in empty pouches, 28 grams of MDMA tablets, and other narcotics, as well as cash amounting to Rs 11 lakh. She was subsequently arrested.

Ajmer has sent waves of controversy across the country, especially it's political segment. Since the row over the Ajmer Sharif began on Wednesday, concerns have been raised over a Rajasthan court’s notice regarding a lawsuit over the Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti shrine claiming the famous Sufi shrine was originally a Shiva temple. The row has even led some to accuse former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud of opening a «Pandora's box» that could fuel communal tensions and even lead to violence. The petition, filed in September in a local Ajmer court, seeks directions to begin worship at the Ajmer Shrine as a Shiva temple. Vishnu Gupta, the plaintiff, claimed that a Shiva temple existed at the site before the dargah was built and that it should be declared a Hindu place of worship. His request for a survey of the site by the ASI and the cancellation of any official registration of the dargah has sparked widespread debate.

The bench headed by Justice C. Hari Shankar and Justice Amit Sharma observed that «there can be no cavil with the finding of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) that defective colour vision is a defect. Hemant Soren announced that his government would take legal action to realise its Rs 1.36 lakh-crore coal dues from the Centre. Soren took oath as the chief minister on Thursday. «Legal action will be initiated to realise Rs 1.36 lakh crore of the state pending with the Centre,» Soren told the media while briefing the decisions of the maiden cabinet meeting of his present government. The announcement came barely 25 days after he requested the Centre «with folded hands» to clear the coal dues to the state.

The clashes led to the loss of five lives and several others being injured, including both local residents and ASI officials involved in the survey. In response to the violence, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has set up a three-member Judicial Inquiry Commission, headed by retired Justice Devendra Kumar Arora of the Allahabad High Court. Supreme Court on Thursday criticised authorities for poor implementation of stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap) to check air pollution in Delhi-NCR and said the restrictions shall remain in force till the next hearing on Monday, December 2. «We make it clear that all Grap-IV measures except for schools shall be continued till Monday,» a division bench comprising Justices Abhay S Oka and Augustine George Masih ordered. The bench said it intends to find a long-term solution to the crisis.

Atishi on Thursday said the Health Department has been directed to devise a mechanism to incorporate the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme without withdrawing the benefits of the Delhi government's free healthcare facilities for the people. In a press conference, she said the Delhi government has been in principle ready to implement the Centre's Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. But there are some contradictions and problems in implementation, the CM said. The Delhi high court on Wednesday sought the stand of the AAP government on a plea by seven BJP MPs from the national capital, seeking implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Atishi said the problems in the implementation of AB-PMJAY arise because the Delhi government is already providing comprehensive free medical facilities in its hospitals.

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti, said that despite a Supreme Court ruling that the status quo of the religious places should be maintained as it existed in 1947, his judgement has paved the way for surveys of these sites potentially leading to increased tension between Hindus and Muslims. “Thanks to a former Chief Justice of India a Pandora's box has been opened, sparking a contentious debate about minority religious places…The recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh is the direct result of this judgment,” said Mufti. The People’s Democratic Party chief said that first mosques and now muslim shrines like Ajmer Sharif are being targeted. “This can result in further bloodshed. The question remains — who will take responsibility for perpetuating this communal violence reminiscent of the partition days?” she asked. The Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, maintains that barring Ayodhya, status quo as on August 15, 1947, will have to be maintained at religious structures across the country. However in 2023, the then CJI D Y Chandrachud had argued that the PW Act 1991 does not debar ascertainment of the religious character of a place of worship and thus allowed a survey at Gyanvapi Mosque, in Varanasi.
